timeless classic | military coat

all right, gang, this post is short and sweet today as it is late, late, late. last night when i went to work on this blog post i was greeted with a message that said my site was “corrupted” what?!?! let me tell you there is never a dull moment when it comes to running a website. and it’s all the more interesting when you only understand half of what is being explained…

to make a long story short, the SSL certificate expired. why that happened at 7pm EST is beyond me. wouldn’t midnight make more sense? but expire it did as it was set to manual renewal not automatic. huh? the certificate costs nothing as it’s bundled in with whatever else is needed to run the site 24/7. sooooo, after i poured a generous glass of cabernet i jumped through those dang hoops the hosting site told me to jump through (my development team is on vacay until next week) by 11ish the website was finally up and running again. by that time this girl was too tired to do anything else but crawl into bed.

denim | turtleneck | similar chelsea boots | similar coat | similar tote | lip shade

so here i am banging away on the keys as we speak, sipping a cup of joe and looking at my clock. because, of course, my alarm clock decided to let me down this morning, too.

but enough about me. let’s get back to today’s ootd which centers around a timeless classic. actually, i’m wearing two classic pieces. can you guess? ding, ding, ding. military coat and chelsea boots are both classic items. each of them always has a spot in my winter wardrobe lineup.

if you are looking for a trend-proof coat, look no further than a double-breasted military coat with gold or brass buttons. similar here, here, and here. it’s the perfect outerwear for work or leisure as it can easily pull double-duty. doesn’t it look fabulous popped over a chunky turtleneck and dark rinse denim? calf-hair chelsea boots similar here and here add subtle texture to this ootd as does a patent leather tote similar here and here.

today’s ootd couldn’t be more appropriate as it’s all about winter style. and i’ve got the cold temps to go along with it. it’s a balmy twenty-four degrees y’all. brrr. wish me luck today as mr. style and i are shooting a cruise/resort wear post. didn’t i tell you there was never a dull moment over here at Style at a Certain Age?

all-in-all i’m ready to brave those frigid temps. i hope you are too ‘cuz baby it’s cold outside! happy hump day, gang!

I wondered why you were saying 24 was chilly then I remembered you measure in F and here in the UK itโ€™s C. 24C is quite pleasantly warm! Love the new haircut. Think Iโ€™ll be taking a pic of it to the hairdressers next visit

I had to laugh and say “poor girl” at the same time. It never fails that technology will let you down when you need it the most. I’m sure the wine helped you sleep and coffee in the morning made everything feel better. It works for me. I love your outfit!! I have those exact Ann Taylor jeans and they are one of my favorites. I will be scouting sales for a similar coat and booties. The shiny purse is a surprisingly nice accessory. I love the way the buttons pick up the gold color in the booties. You have pulled together a classic outfit that has the ability to be worn almost anywhere. Love it. I can’t wait to see the resort wear post.

So simple but so perfect. Love your attention to detail. I disagree only 2 classics … don’t jeans and turtleneck make it 4? ๐Ÿ˜‰
