how to wear leggings

beth at Style at a Certain Age wears faux leather leggings, white shirt, boyfriend blazer, and black booties

one question that’s frequently asked is, “how to wear leggings?” given the comfort factor of leggings i can see why that question lands in my inbox. but leggings can be quite controversial which gives us pause as to whether we should give this trend a go. with the athleisure trend still going strong why not step out in a pair? if it’s coverage you’re seeking leggings look fantastic with an oversized sweater or sweatshirt. and they look just as good with a long tee shirt and long cardigan take a peek at this post. but this is how i like to wear leggings in 2018, faux leather leggings that is similar here.

today’s ootd has weekend chic written all over it. it starts with faux leather leggings from Ann Taylor. this pair is several years old, but these ponte leggings would be a great substitute, or if you want to splurge on leather this pair from Talbots would do the trick. black and white is always all right, so an oversized white shirt was a no-brainer. affordable options here and here. but my favorite piece of the entire outfit is this boyfriend blazer similar here, and here that’s long and lean. it’s that time of year when booties are worn every chance we get. and a quilted hobo handbag lends a decidedly casual air.

leggings look best with flat shoes. think sneakers, loafers, ballet flats, and ankle boots.

I seriously love this look Beth, I have been wanting to give this look a spin.

Since I’ve retired, I admit that around the house, I have fallen in love with how comfy leggings are. I definitely think the old rule of wearing bigger/looser tunics on top with skinny on the bottom is important with them. And I still sometimes wear leggings with shorter dresses–that way I get to wear some shorter dresses that would otherwise make me think I looked like I was trying to be too young. That jacket is perfect for them here.

As long as the top covers the behind and crotch when sitting down! Love the blazer.

    1. i think this blazer fits your criterion. it’s one of my favorites. xo

Sometimes I canโ€™t tell if theyโ€™re leggings or skinny pants. Whatโ€™s the difference?

    1. skinny pants have a different texture although they can be just as close fitting as leggings. xo
