all right, ladies, it’s back to business on the blog as we ring in another year! yes, it’s time to bid adieu to 2018 and sing auld lang syne when the clock strikes twelve. mr. style and i might be curled up in bed when the new year officially arrives, but earlier in the evening, we’re dining with friends to celebrate all the possibilities a new year brings.

is my ootn glitzy and glam? or cozy and comfy? there are two options today centered around this terrific menswear-inspired blazer in a decidedly feminine color. lilac is on trend this season and is a perfect but unexpected color for NYE. it’s definitely a change of pace from the obligatory sparkle and glitter. this blazer hails from the halogen x atlantic-pacific collection available at Nordstrom. blogger and fashion influencer blair eadie known for her classic and quirky style put together her very first fashion collection that’s been a resounding hit. if you haven’t visited blair’s blog check out atlantic-pacific asap. 

but what to wear with a lilac blazer? today i opted for monochromatic hues and a touch of lace. although lilac looks fantastic with navy blue or dark green.

selecting shoes can be a tricky prospect when wearing a vibrant color scheme. when in doubt i always grab a pair of nude heels that blend into the background. these pumps have a 3-inch heel. if you prefer a lower heel, then this pair is a beautiful option.

accessories are simple and classic although a gold metallic belt similar here adds a little oomph.

for a cozy, relaxed ootn simply exchange the skirt for blue jeans. this pair of denim from J. Crew is cropped and flared which allows a pair of boots slipped underneath. boots or heels adds casual sophistication but don’t forget to carry a glitzy handbag similar here for a little extra sparkle and shine.
