what to wear | travel outfit
wheels up, gang, it’s time for a new adventure. i’m heading to Florida soon, and I wanted to share a travel outfit. this is one i wore last year when i was making the trek down to Florida to appear as a guest on HSN. as i’ve been deeply inspired by the concept of slow fashion, reusability and sustainability, i’ve pulled it out of my closet for reuse this year. and let me tell you, it’s held up well.
a perfect outfit for airport travel or simply casually bumming around in your destination city, i’m pulling mostly from The Gap’s Athleta line today. it’s comfy, casual, and stylish: the essential travel combination.

i’ve got a pair of the wander slim pant that’s no longer in stock. so i’ve pulled the similar skyline. the fabric is airy and comfortable—perfect for the short commute down to Florida. the light and stretchy fabric allows me easy movement throughout the day. and it pairs wonderfully with this crisp white shirt. the looks is sharp and terrific, complimenting the with navy pants.

a classic pair of sneakers
this reversible down coat is lightweight and warm. airplanes are cold but oftentimes i don’t want to carry on a bulky winter coat. this is the perfect solution. the color i chose is anthracite grey/birch grey, but it also comes in black/arbor olive. add a pair of comfy New Balance sneakers in a bright yellow, and i’m ready to hit the road. (and if you don’t own a pair of New Balance 574s, much like Converse’s Chuck Taylors, they never go out of style.)

the right travel bag
i’m bringing with me two bags. the Longchamp travel bag is durable and water resistant. the zip inset expands and contracts. it also has a removable crossbody strap. it was a reader favorite last year, and i have no doubt it will be again this year. i’m also bringing with me a (similar) tote. both are easily stowable .

Love your style but I have to disagree with the footwear choice. It is much easier to wear slip-on shoes to the airport. Much easier to go through security check without the laces.
we don’t even have to disagree. slip-on shoes are a great option if you’re navigating through regular security. isn’t it grand to have choices?
Love your outfit, Beth! Just retuned to Canada from Mexico and choose a similar outfit but wore a heavy weight blazer that I love for planes with a silk scarf.
I really wish I had purchased the similar down jacket, I debated about prior to going south. Lightweight and takes up minimal space. Going was fine (heated house/cab/airport) but returning we left a +25 and landed in -27, so this little darling would have been a perfect transition piece, even if the cab was heated 😉. Excellent ideas as usual, Beth.
So glad you’re thinking this way~especially since I’m retired, I have been realizing just how many clothes I have, and there are so many ways to style them all that I’m having fun creating tons of new looks with things I already own. I’m amazed at how new they look just switching them up with different items than I did in the past. I told myself– here and there I’ll purchase something of quality that I love, and add to my things here and there. But I counted all the jackets, sweaters, skirts, pants, shoes I own and it’s embarrassing–I am going to have new looks forever even with what I already own. Happy travels!
