if there’s one thing we know about spring, it’s that the weather is unpredictable. one minute it’s bright, glorious sunshine. the next minute the gray clouds swirl overhead. the mornings are typically brisk. the afternoons’ usher in milder temps. today the temperatures range from a chilly thirty-three degrees to a high of sixty-nine. so what’s a girl to wear?
well, today’s post is all about how to wear a raincoat. it’s a girl’s best friend this time of year. and we all love a timeless classic trenchcoat. it’s a wardrobe staple that will never let you down. but if you want to add a little pizazz to your daily outfit think about a raincoat with a bold pattern.
a black and white color combo is always right. no matter what season. today’s ootd starts with a simple white skirt with patch pockets. then i added a basic black cashmere crewneck from Everlane, suede boots and popped on a gingham raincoat from Talbots (old, but there’s a similar rendition from Talbots here). don’t forget to grab a black handbag (similar here) to complete the look.
there’s a variety of patterns to choose from when it comes to raincoats. go bold, go bright. or maybe subdued. the choice is yours.
many boots are on sale this time of year. if you look hard enough, you just might find one or two at a bargain price.

thanks so much for stopping by today! and i’m happy to hear you are finding inspiration. that’s what the blog is all about. xo
Hi Beth. I began a comment to your blogiversary post and as I was almost finished it disappeared! Some days I don’t think I own my own phone! I was in the middle of telling you how you had completely turned my head around for the better. I discovered Style at a Certain Age about 14 months ago. I now cleanse my closet better, shop better, put outfits together better and have a lot more confidence doing it. I no longer get caught up in Does this look frumpy? Does this look too young ? I know the answer. You are just a couple of years younger and a 1/2 foot taller but I know how to adapt the look. One of these days I am going to see you on the street in Athens and say “thank you” in person! Congratulations! You are a hard worker and we all benefit.
Go Dawgs!

hi dessie! it’s good to hear from you. i’m so glad you’re following along with me. thanks so much for your sweet words. it means the world to me to hear the blog is making a difference. i hope to meet you someday on the streets of Athens. xo
Hi Beth, love the whole combination. I love to see a raincoat with a difference xx
hi julie! i agree! if we have to wear a coat it might as well look snazzy. xo
Such a good transitional look–and I was eyeing that newest gingham coat Talbots is offering. I honestly don’t “need” another trench coat, but I have been watching that one. This is a good combination weather look. It would be classic anytime. Well done.
i think it’s safe to say we don’t “need” anything new! but the style mavens call is hard to silence. xo
