kicking off thursday with a pair of paisley pants. if you’ve followed the blog for any length of time you’ll remember that i have at least one pair of fancy pants on hand. why? because fancy pants are just darn fun to wear! and isn’t that what summer is all about? easy-breezy days when we’re less buttoned-up?
paisley is an iconic print with a teardrop-shaped motif. its pattern originated in Persia and became popular in western culture in the 18th and 19th century thanks to the silk road that allowed trade from the east to the west. although the pattern is Persian the paisley print was named after a town in the west of Scotland known as a center of textiles where the pattern was produced.
this blue paisley pant goes well with denim. so out came a favorite denim shirt with a western twist that i wore as a third layer. it emphasizes the casual attitude of this ootd yet adds polish. a white tee is a closet staple we all have folded in our closet. and they’re perfect for any hot summer day. add an on-trend circle handbag, ballet flats (old, similar here), and this outfit is done!

the paisley pants have a side-zip which provides a sleek front. stretch denim fabric lets this ankle pant move with you throughout the day without sagging.

Hi Beth, fancy pants as you call them were something I’d never considered until I saw you wearing them, and you’ve had a few different ones. Anyhow you got me started on them and I’ve had quite a few compliments when I’ve worn mine. I wore them on the plane earlier this year When we went to Florida and back again, one of the airport assistants at Orlando Int said ” Hey there gal I love your pants”. They were ones I’d purchased from Marks and Spencer. The whole outfit looks lovely on you xoxo
Good morning Beth. Fabulous outfit, love those “fancy pants”!
Fancy schmancy! I like ’em. They’re easy to pair with something solid and you’re good to go. I still have a navy/white pair that remind me of these–they are similar, with a slightly smaller print that I wore on a flight across the pond a few years ago–the fabric is so soft and comfortable. I like the bag–I do not have a round bag, and that just looks fun. You need to stop creating “needs” for me! You’re a bad influence.
I do like your bag. But I don’t like bags I need to carry.. they don’t work for me.
Shoulder bags work best & are becoming harder to find.
My pet peeve: bags with 2 sets of straps, a shoulder strap & a hand strap.
They look ridiculous & wish manufacturers would get back to the old way.
This is a Talbots bag and comes with a detachable shoulder strip! I bought mine at the beginning of the summer and have loved it . Check it out!
I actually like the option of two handles—-IF the long one is detachable. That way if I’m going to be doing something that requires hands free, like shopping or going through buffet line, I can attach/detach as need arises. As far as the other handle, I prefer a quick to grab short handle that stands up by itself and doesn’t flop around. Handles that can accidentally get caught by a foot when the bag sits on the floor by my chair or in the car are a tripping safety hazard.
Loving those fancy pants on you! My fancy pants are a pair of jeans with embroidered flowers on the legs from JJill. They are a throwback to the 70’s for me when my best girlfriend embroidered pink hearts all over my bell bottom jeans! Love the denim shirt too!
I love your pants! I don’t feel I have enough places to wear these cute clothes., I wear scrubs at work. You rock these paisleys like a star! Love all the fun you add to my day!
I have at least 3 pair of fancy pants, as you call them. Ankle length, straight with a side zip, which I love. The trick is wearing simple pieces with them so they can garner all the attention. Love the ootd.
Hello Beth, I love your fancy pants! I just bought a pair but sadly they are not pasley which is my favorite pattern. I covered the walls of my bedroom as a teen and a white on white paisley. Anyway, I have been shopping a Talbot’s Outlet and that is where I found my fancy pants. Today it will be hot so I am wearing a stipe t-shirt dress from Talbot’s Outlet with red shoes that have a red pom pom. My purse is a red and pink clutch. I feel as though I am channeling you today! Lunching with ladies looking like Beth!
Love the fancy pants! I have a similiar look I sport throughout the summer and alwasy receive compliments. I told a woman that those are my fancy pants- she had never heard the term before and thought that in itself was marvelous. The look is pulled together but has the appearance of effortlessness which is so chic in my opinion. I look forward to your publications every day….great inspiration and you my friend wear it well no matter what!
Beautiful Fancy Pants! I’ve always loved paisley but usually in tops. I just might have to rethink my options. Love the entire outfit❣️
I love the entire outfit, casual but so chic! My favorite item I have to admit is the mother of pearl bracelet and I love it in more than one color. Problem is, it is a bit pricey to have more than one!
Now I am thinking I should have bought one of those round wicker bags from TJMaxx yesterday! You look so cute , that is my type if outfit.
I need to get some paisley or other fun print. I am on a weight loss journey — successful so far — and will have to wait until Sept. to see where my size is. Vowed not to purchase anything until I’m at goal.
Hi Beth..Love the fancy pants! I have several pair and always like wearing them! I am wishing you and Mr. STyle a good and peaceful day!
I love this outfit on you, especially those fabulous paisley pants. You always add the perfect details to your outfits. As a history buff myself, I appreciate the background information that you often add to your posts!
Paisley is one of my favorite patterns since my hippie days. Love these!
Hi Beth! Thank you for featuring a Talbot’s look today! As a wardrobe specialist for Talbots, I compliment you on putting together a sweet look for a summer day. The Paisley pant can be dressed up or down and is a very functional piece for a wardrobe. Also, Chatham is one of our most popular pant styles. Currently the “Red Hangar” sale is going on and the round straw bag you featured is on sale!!! It was a popular style and our tore sold out in less than a week. Looking forward to Friday with Oscar!
Love those fancy pants Beth. You always wear your outfits so well.
Getting caught up after being away….this is such a great look Beth! You also had an impressive score with the trench style vest outfit from a day or two ago…I really appreciated your inspiration for wearing the vest trend without it veering into a boho style.
There are no words for the sad news. I am sure you don’t remember but we met in the Pier Village on St Simons Island. As I turned to leave I noticed an elegant handsome man sitting in front of the coffee shop with a wonderful smile beaming in your direction. I knew that it had to be THE Mr. Style. In a later post you shared a photo & I learned that I was correct. Surrounding you, Mr. Style and all your family in prayer.
Love your fancy pants! I have a pair of black ankle pants with small, colorful, feathered birds on them. I can wear several different colored blouses with them, and of course, ballet flats! Love this summer look. JC Penneys for about $56.
I like the length of this shirt on you. I have visited Paisley, Scotland, just outside of Glasgow.
Love your fancy pants! I have a pair of fancy pants I bought from Talbots a couple of years back. Black and white print and waaaay outside my comfort zone at the time! But, I love them and get compliments everytime I wear them. Thank you for your inspiration.
Love the paisley pants. They look so great with white tee or blouse. I dress mine up with a classic blazer for a dress up look.
Hi Beth
You wear your fancy pants well! I like the paisley. Talbots always has what I like. Love, hugs, and prayers to you and your family.
