several readers have written in asking for more nine-to-five outfits. since i have several appointments in atlanta this week monday is a great day to kick off nine-to-five chic. and what’s better than the perennial favorite? yes, the pencil skirt has been gracing offices since 1954. the year Christian Dior introduced the silhouette that focused on the hips and narrowed to the knee. even though the hemline raises or lowers depending on current trends this iconic skirt has remained an office staple since the mid 50’s. this baby has staying power.
today’s skirt is a traditional fabric – tweed boucle. don’t you love the longer length? but i’ve toughened it up a bit with my trusty black moto jacket and a dark denim shirt. pink pointy-toed slingbacks add a decidedly feminine element to this ootd. and pink is on trend at the moment which keeps this outfit looking fresh and modern. and what about this boucle tweed handbag? the leather laced strap adds spit and polish to my outfit and converts into a crossbody bag if needed.
so who’s ready for monday? it’s here. have a happy trick or treat day, ladies!

Love the classic tweed skirt combined with the black moto jacket!
hi maria!
the moto jacket gives the outfit a modern edge. just enough to keep it from looking stuffy. and who wants to look like that?!
xoxo
Good job, Beth. You’ve done it again! I love love love that purple skirt and wouldn’t have thought to pair it with a denim shirt in a million years. But each element you added to the outfit is great.
Tweed is timeless…love this outfit! Makes me want to go back to work just to dress up…nah, not really…ha! xoxo
awww, come on donna! i know you’re dying to to wear a skirt. try it, you’ll like it!

Nice look–it has just a bit of an “edge” that makes it stand out. Love the juxtaposition of the black leather and the pale pink feminine heel.
i’m always looking for ways to wear my moto jacket. i’ve worn it so much, sue, that it’s finally seeing some wear around the collar! hope all is well with you and yours.
xoxo
I love this look! We have a casual office, but this is the kind of thing I wear to church! I love the color combos on you. You look fantastic!
