accessories make or break an outfit. the right handbag, jewelry, shoes, or belts are always the icing on the cake. if you want to take your outfit from ordinary to extraordinary, then pay attention to your accessories. from costume jewelry to belts and, yes, handbags, accessories are a simple way to add spit and polish to any outfit. today, i’m sharing how accessories can take your outfit from casual to date night with ease. come join me as i share 1 outfit accessorized 3 ways.
today’s ootd starts with a simple pair of white chino’s (old, similar here) from Talbots. Michael Stars is a favorite brand of mine for tees and sweaters and i love this neutral cotton sweater perfect for our spring temps. add a pair of slip-on sneakers from Caslon, and this outfit can lounge around the house or run errands with ease.

outfit #2 is elevated thanks to the addition of jewelry and handbag. the outfit is rooted in simplicity with white chinos and a neutral tone sweater and the shoes are cute and comfy (old, similar here, here, and here) the addition of gold and mother-of-pearl bangles adds a little oomph. and once spring and summer roll into town, i love to switch things up with handbags. a fisherman handbag (old, similar here, here, and here) just screams summer fun!

Hi Beth! Wherever you did this photo shoot is gorgeous! In fact all your backdrops for your shoots are wonderful. Would be great if you could mention the name of these places. Thanks!

last week. highly recommend!

I love color but when I see an outfit in just one color, I’m always blown away by how simple can look so great! I especially love it when you do a post like this.
so happy to hear you loved today’s post! the power of accessories is real.
Beth your pixie looks great! I have a pixie also and I love it! Enjoyed the post and the scenery. Was this at the Ritz? Absolutely beautiful.
Have a great week!
yes! this is the Ritz Carlton on Lake Oconee. isn’t it gorgeous?!
Hi Beth
Fantastic combinations, love the sandals.
I love neutrals also.
Have a nice Sunday!!!
and we’re all ready for sandal season!
Great ideas. Especially like the sweater….it is still cold here in the N US.
Love your new hair style-so fresh and modern.I’m sure it will be great for those hot summer days in Georgia.
Enjoyed.
we still need cute sweaters this time of year!
Love your haircut. Short & sexy. You look fabulous.
awww, you just made my day!
I love your new hairstyle. It suits you so well.
thanks so much! perfect summer cut.
Your hair and you are so gotrgeous. ‘Iw admired you for a while amd want you tp know this outfit is lovely. I wear mostly black, gray, white, and shades of blue. Brown, I stick to camel and beige. Never orange, although others wear it well, I don’t. Pixie hair looks wonderful on you and others. Mine is short enough to be pixie, but my too large ears, look better slightly covered. Thick, naturally wavy, and gray with body galore, my new hair stylist lets it grow on to to llook like the way you wore it previously. Short, short styles are fun, I prefer the way you had it before. I’m sure it’ll he back there when fall arrives. Maybe not Whatever you like, Beth, it’s your hir.
thanks for sharing your thoughts! yes, change is always good for the soul. the good thing about hair is that it grows.
Love the new do!!!
and it’s so easy to take care of!
Love your new hair cut as well as all of your looks.
I look forward every day to the ootd!
i so appreciate you being here!
I got a lot out of this post. It’s really helpful and just what I needed. I could really use more content like this because I struggle with choosing accessories. I tend to play it safe by choosing shoes and a handbag that is sporty if I am wearing a sporty top. If I am wearing a feminine top then I go with more feminine shoes and handbag. You’ve really shown more of a juxtaposition that I really like and need to be confident creating.
thanks for the suggestion! and i’m so happy to hear the post was helpful.
Love the ootd but your hair! LOVE it! It shows off your beautiful eyes.
awww, you made my day!
Thank you for this blog post. I was able to replicate this look quite easily from clothing items purchased last season from Talbot’s(still practically new) and accessories purchased this spring. I put it all together yesterday, and my husband loved it! Thanks again!
don’t you love shopping your closet?! so happy to hear your husband loved the outfit.
