A Low Key Winter Beauty Checklist

Winter officially kicked off on December 21st, so what’s on your winter beauty checklist? The weather is definitely drying up and getting very chilly here in the south (finally!).  We have packed up our family – not the Christmas decor though – and are headed northeast to go for an after-Christmas ski trip to Lake Placid, via road trip!  Have you ever been there?

Due to this change in temperature and seasons, I find myself using heavier face moisturizers, hand creams, and more hydrating lip products than ever! Packing my makeup bag certainly looks a bit different for this ski trip than it did for our summer beach trips.

Since winter can be especially harsh on mature skin, leaving it feeling dry, tight, and dull, we need to switch up our products. As we age, our skin produces less natural oil, making hydration and nourishment even more crucial during the colder months.

Here is a look at seven winter beauty things and products I’ve packed up in my Amazon checkered bag that are benefiting my beauty routine and helping me feel more seasonal right now. Enjoy these inside our road trip makeup application pics 🙂

Winter Beauty Checklist

1. e.l.f. Cosmetics holy hydration makeup melting cleansing balm, $11. One of my all time fave makeup removers that leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and makeup free. It’s a solid balm that melts into a luxurious oil and turns into a nourishing milk texture that rinses off clean. Just wish it came in a bigger tub!

2. D’alba Piedmont Italian White Truffle First Spray Serum, $24. Another viral popular skincare product found on Amazon (over 9K reviews) that I decided to give a try, and I’m glad I did! I love spraying on the serum right after my moisturizer but before my foundation routine. It delivers immediate hydration and glowy skin. Feels incredible and allows my makeup to lay so pretty. Check out their entire line here for others.

3. Paula’s Choice 5% Vitamin C sheer moisturizer with SPF 50, $45. We still need spf during the winter months and this one gives so many benefits of being a multi-active SPF supercharged with the power of five percent vitamin C. This sheer moisturizer protects, moisturizes, protects against developing dark spots, and visibly brightens skin all day. Even my husband will wear this.

4. Peach and Lily Glass Skin Collagen masks, $8. These things are pure magic and they’re constantly selling out. You apply them as an opaque white mask, and wait for them to turn clear. Once they have it means they have just deposited the equivalent to one full-size 40g serum bottle per mask for the ultimate, with long-lasting glass skin results, that are not a temporary coating or glossy film that washes off.

Enjoy this scary before of me wearing this mask, but notice the glossy after skin!

5. Buxom Plump Shot collagen plumping cream blush, $28. These plumping cream-to-powder blushes plump and define cheeks with a natural, blurred, filter-like finish. I love shades Dreamy Dolly (wearing in these pics) and Tickled Pink. They look so lovely on and are the best way to give much-needed complexion color during the winter months that don’t look chalky. Yes, that’s my teenage daughter Vivian photo bombing in the back seat 🙂

6. NYX Fat Oil Click Stick Lip Balm, $11. My 75-year-old mother told me about this one and how much she loved it. Mother knows best right?? They feel incredibly hydrating, and plenty of shine and color to give lips a healthy look and I dig the click pen function.

7. L’Occitaine Nourishing + Protective Shea Hand cream, $30. I remember using this back in my Nordstrom cosmetics counter days, as I would make sure to walk over to L’Occitaine and use their hand cream sample each morning to start my day. I’ve been buying this best selling hand cream ever since. It’s formulated with 100% organic and fair-trade certified shea butter and feels so decadent with a delightful fresh, powdery scent of authentic shea.
