as we know, february is the month for love. it’s a given we women focus our love towards others. we’re nurturer’s by nature. many of us are mothers, all of us are daughters and friends. and maybe even a sister. some of us are focused on our education, or our careers, others on families. some of us are juggling all three?! there are so many hats that we wear. sometimes, we even wear ourselves out! whose still recuperating from the heroic effort we put into the holidays? yes, we all wanted our loved ones to experience the perfect 12.25.15 complete with gift-wrapped presents, trees trimmed to the nines, and brunch! but did we take the time to feed our own souls? did we squeeze in a little self-love? it’s hard for some of us to place ourselves first. there are so many competing priorities vying for our attention.some of you are ticking off your to-do list as you read… but if i can share one thing i’ve learned in life it’s this: if there’s no me, there’s no us, and there’s no them.
as a young mother many years ago, one lucky day (if you believe in luck), it dawned on me that i would be of no use to anyone, let alone my husband or my children if i didn’t take care of myself. how could i truly love others if i didn’t first love myself? and isn’t that the dilemma of a nurturer? putting your needs ahead of others? it’s just so gratifying to see our loved ones feeling joyful and fulfilled. but there’s a valuable lesson to be learned with placing a priority on ourselves. because if there’s no me, there’s no us, and there’s no them. if i’m not whole, and happy, and content with just me, myself, and i how on earth could i possibly make others feel loved, feel complete, feel whole. and that’s my goal while i walk this earth for however many years i’m granted – to love. to give that love freely with no expectations, an abundance of forgiveness, and no regrets. and it begins with me. it begins with you. it starts with taking care of yourself day-in and day-out. with simple things like reading a book, or taking a tennis lesson, or maybe a daily walk before the sun rises. go ahead, fill in the blank. because we’re all so different, amazing and unique. and i encourage each of you to nurture not only your soul but your body as well. exercise, nutrition and skin care are part of my daily regime to help me be the best me i can be. some of you may remember when i introduced an organic, sustainable skin care line last august. biossance – whose mission statement reads: beauty is in our biology. well, biossance has done it again with a new addition to their luxurious line. it’s called the nourisher. and here are a few of the benefits of daily use:
what’s more biossance is running a contest where 50 lucky people will win a free deluxe sample of the nourisher, and 10 people will win biossance’s future skin care line (available in march). it’s easy to enter. simply follow biossance on instagram and share a photo on how you’ve decided to take care of yourself with a little self-love and daily pampering. don’t forget to #selflovegoals and #biossance. so go on, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. it’s but one small step towards self-love. biossance is only one way i take care of myself. but my skin is what’s reaping the rewards.
