Are you looking to elevate your short locks to the next level of style and sophistication? Then you’ve come to the right blog! I’ve rocked a variation of a pixie since I was seventeen, and I know a thing or two about short hair. It’s a popular hairstyle for women of ALL ages because it’s low-maintenance easy breezy. While a pixie can limit your styling options, as opposed to long hair, I can still find more than one way to rock a pixie hairstyle.

When choosing the right pixie cut for your face shape, it's important to consider how different styles can complement your features. Each face shape—whether round, oval, square, or heart-shaped—has unique characteristics that can be enhanced with the right pixie cut. I head to Pinterest for pixie hair inspiration and look at celebrity hairstyles. Halle Berry or Taylor Hill rock a great pixie cut. Halle has a slightly longer bang, and Taylor has a classic pixie cut. Jennifer Lawrence, Keira Knightly, and Ginnifer Goodwin cut their hair into pixies and look fantastic. My favorite is Michelle Williams, who has a deep side part and side-swept bangs.
To achieve a stylish and versatile look with your pixie cut, it's essential to add volume and texture to your short hair. Adding volume can help lift your hair and create a fuller appearance while adding texture can give your hairstyle more depth and dimension. Several ways to achieve this include using volumizing products, texturizing sprays, or styling tools like a round brush or a flat iron. By incorporating these techniques into your styling routine, you can create a dynamic and eye-catching look that is sure to turn heads.
With Georgia's high heat and high humidity, I routinely use a smoothing serum before I dry my hair to protect against high heat and add shine (Argan Oil Taming Serum or Pureology Smooth Perfection). Afterward, I use a dime-sized amount of Pureology Style and Protect textured paste followed by a spritz of R+CO Dry Shampoo - both products add texture. The last step is Moroccanoil hair spray. This is, hands down, my favorite hair spray. It comes in medium, strong or extra-strong. This blog post shares more tips on How to take care of Gray Hair.
I like a sleek and smooth pixie cut for a chic and polished everyday look. One of my favorite hair dryers is the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, which drys my hair quickly. Then, I use a Flat Iron to straighten my hair and create a glossy finish that adds sophistication. You can add a side part or subtle waves for a softer touch to your hairstyle. If I add waves I use a Hot Tools Curling Iron. Additionally, incorporating accessories like headbands or a silk scarf, hair clips, or stylish hats (I love hats!) can elevate your everyday look and add a fun twist to your pixie cut. Experiment with different styling techniques to find what works best for you and showcases your personality. These simple yet effective styling tips will help you confidently rock your pixie cut every day. Here’s another blog post that talks about My Hair Care Routine.
For those with curly hair, the bold and beautiful curly pixie is a fantastic option to consider. This style allows your natural curls to shine while providing a modern and chic look. The curly pixie cut is versatile and can be styled in various ways to suit your personal style and preferences. Embrace your curls with confidence and rock this edgy yet feminine hairstyle.
Another striking option to consider is the asymmetrical pixie, whether your hair color is gray, red, brunette, or blonde. This style adds an element of edginess and sophistication, perfect for those looking to make a bold statement with their hair. By opting for an asymmetrical cut, you can effortlessly showcase your personality and individuality.
Creating elegant looks for special occasions requires a touch of glamour and sophistication, Whether you have a formal event, a wedding, or a fancy dinner on the agenda, your short locks can be styled to perfection for any special occasion. With the right products and tools, you can create stunning updos, glamorous curls, or sleek pixie styles that will turn heads and make you feel like a million bucks. The late Princess Diana showed various ways to style a pixie for the evening and is a great inspiration to this day.
Every once in a while, I get the itch to grow out my signature pixie, and it takes fortitude and patience to grow out your hair, especially in front of the glare of social media. One thing is certain: There are always LOTS of opinions about my hair. When COVID rolled into town and shut down the world along with my hair salon, I was more or less forced into longer locks and actually grew it out into a short bob. Then I added bangs before I cut it off again. And I’ve had my share of bad hairstyles, even under the guidance of a great hairstylist. But the good news is that hair grows, and you can and should change your look now and then. Change is good for the soul! Invariably I go back to a version of my pixie cut.

Beth, thank you! I have curly hair but of course like to wear it straight but I liked the curly example you showed. I sometimes think with my white hair and wear it curly it looks like permed hair and I think it makes me look old. But I do think the right cut can take care of that.
I do like your straight pixie though and some of the products you mentioned might help with frizz.
Yes, ask your stylist what products would work best with your hair. My hair isn’t curly but its wavy and there’s ALOT of it to manage.
Thanks for stopping by!
I’ve been wearing a pixie for years. I like all the styles you’ve had. My favorite is the asymmetrical pixie with the long bang and other side tucked behind the ear. I agree, products are a must. I use several by Kevin Murphy. His products are environmentally safe and work so well.
Love Kevin Murphy! Great choice!
I have long admired your hair style. Thank you for the helpful styling tips. My hair is short and I’m trying to get my hair into such a style. Since my stylist retired I have worked with two other nice stylist. I think my current stylist is understanding how to work with my hair and is helping me also since she gives a good cut. I enjoy your daily blog! Thank you for your hard work!
Thanks, Helen! I so appreciate your sweet comment. It does take time working with a new stylist but I’m happy to hear you are liking yours!
