One captivating color that suits all ages and skin tones is LAVENDER. Its soft, feminine hue can add a touch of sophistication and elegance to any look because this shade hits the sweet spot between dramatic and delicate. Lavender is a versatile color for this summer, with its cooler and somewhat bluish undertone. Its sister shade lilac, is another option with a warmer and slightly pinkish undertone. Both are beautiful options. So let’s explore Lavender Makeup for Summer.

These shades are soft and pretty for ALL eye colors from green, to brown, blue, and hazel! Everyone can wear lavender. It’s a refreshing alternative to the “safe” browns and neutrals we tend to lean into. Shades of lavender can also look pretty darn cute on the lips too.
In today's post, let’s explore the art of wearing lavender-hued makeup to welcome in these warm summer months. It can help you enhance your natural beauty and feel confident in every application of lavender makeup for summer!
As we mature, opting for subtlety in our makeup choices can enhance our features without overpowering them. When working with lavender eye makeup, start with lighter shades and gradually build up the intensity if desired. Subtle lavender hues offer a fresh and youthful appearance, giving a soft pop of color to your eyes.
I’ll be using the lavender shade, “Kate" in my BK Beauty True Beauty palette, $45, which also has a bunch of other beautiful and wearable neutrals that anyone can pull off. It’s great to have this one pop of color you can play with, while also having the neutrals to fall back on in the same palette. You can watch me create a romantic eye makeup look using this exact palette here on my Youtube channel.
Other beautiful palettes that include today's shade you can look into are the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Pro palette, $60, which includes an array of matte and shimmer purple shades to play with. Or if you want super simple, try the Ilia Liquid Powder Shadow Tint, $28, in “Aster,” for a soft wash of lavender!
Consider your eye color when choosing the right shade of lavender. For example, if you have green or hazel eyes, opt for lavender shades with warm undertones to bring out the richness of your eye color. If you have brown eyes, cooler tones of lavender can create a stunning contrast. Experiment with different shades to find the one that makes your eyes truly shine.
Don’t Forget The Eye Cream + Concealer
To create a flawless canvas for your lavender eye makeup, always begin to prep with a great hydrating eye cream along the entire eye bed. As it so happens, one of my favorite eye creams is the Drunk Elephant Ceramighty AF Eye balm, $60, which has a lavender top to it!
Next use a primer, or use your concealer, to smooth the eyelid and help the eyeshadow stay in place. Use a concealer to even out any discoloration or imperfections under the eyes as well, which helps to brighten the eye area and provide a clean base for the lavender shades to pop. The hottest new concealer out right now is the Kosas Super Brightening + Creamy concealer, $30, and comes in plenty of shades to choose from.
Adding depth to your eye look can make your eyes appear more defined and vibrant. Use a matte or satin neutral shade of lavender to define this area of the eye and create that pop of color you need!
This step will create dimension and make your lavender eyeshadow stand out beautifully. One of my go-to eyeshadow brushes for this small area of the eyes, is the Morphe M709, $10. If your eye beds have gotten smaller with age, this is a wonderful option for putting shadow right where you want it without applying too much accent color.
When applying lavender eyeshadow, pairing it with complementary neutral shades can create a harmonious and polished look when applying above the accent shade along your crease area. Taupe, soft browns, or light grays can be blended with lavender to achieve a balanced eye makeup style. This combination will create depth and balance, emphasizing the lavender shade. I used the warm brown shade of “Beauty” from the BK palette in this area.
Eyeliner Choices
To define your eyes further, choose a soft eyeliner that complements lavender tones. A brown, gray, or dark plum liner can create a softer look compared to a black liner, adding depth without overpowering the delicate lavender shades. I actually used one of the deep purple shadows from the same BK palette, in shade “Dream” and wet my liner brush with a setting spray, then swiped the shadow as liner along my lash line!
To ensure a harmonious overall look, balance your lavender eye makeup with a complementary lip and cheek color. I am a huge fan of the iconic Dior Rosy Glow blush, $40, that is the perfect pink for most skin tones and adjusts to the moisture level in your skin to give you the perfect flush. If you’ve never tried this blush, I highly suggest it.
Finishing the lips off with a sheer punch of fuchsia color, I used the Buxom Full On Plumping Lip Polish, $25, in my perfect shade “Jennifer” (can you believe it??) that pairs well with this lavender palette. Check the Buxom shades of plumping glosses to see if you can find yourself in there as they name their shades in popular female names.
Nail the look With Lavender Polish!
Too scared to try lavender in your makeup?? No problem, just experiment with your fingernails! There is no more perfect shade than the Essie “Go Ginza” nail polish, $10, to add to your summer nail collection. It’s absolutely gorgeous and such a fun but soft wearable shade.
My lavender Shein batwing top, $10, is so flowy and comfortable and comes in 14 shades! I’m wearing a small, runs loose. | Sequin Jewelry Sandbar statement ring, $98, is a staple in my jewelry collection. | BK Blush Brush #107, $32, is the perfect brush for applying loose powder, blending out makeup, and applying your powder blushes. | My Peepers Showbiz blue readers, $29 make a cute face accessory!
