Mother’s Day is just around the corner – Sunday, May 11th. A couple of weeks ago, I took a short getaway trip to the mountains with my mom, my aunt, and my daughter on a girls’ trip to Dahlonega, GA. We did a winery tour, shopped, and played board games – it was so fun. I do not take for granted that I get to spend time with my 76-year-old mom, who also loves a good glass of pinot grigio like I do 🙂 Here are a few pics below…
My mother-in-law, Jeanie, who was always like a second mom to me, has been living with Alzheimer’s for over 10 years now and currently does not recognize any of us, is non-verbal, and cannot walk. She’s also 2 years younger than my own mom.
Seeing the glaring health differences between my two favorite moms is a stark reminder to be sure and tell the mother figures in your life how much you love and appreciate them while you can and in the moment. Take the pictures also with your mom, don’t wait!
My Favorite Job? Being a Mom.
As a mother of 3 teens myself, I feel eternally grateful to be a mom. I always wanted to be one the moment I married my husband, Scott, at the age of 23. But it wasn’t in the plans until I turned 28, after going through 3 rounds of IVF before we were blessed with our two boys, Jack and Walker. Our daughter Vivian came as a huge surprise 2 years later!
They are seriously 3 of the most wonderful human beings, I love being around them so much, they’re all 3 so different, yet so much fun in their own individual ways, and no, I’m not biased – ha ha!
So what better way to celebrate and pamper the incredible women in our lives than by gifting them with tokens of beauty, self-care, and all the girly things!! Or, if money is tight, a colorful bunch of wildflowers or a small plant from Trader Joe’s and a thoughtful card always work. Flowers are truly my love language 🙂
Now I do understand that sometimes relationships with birth-moms can be complicated, and that there might be a female in your life who stands in as a mother-like figure, and that person can be just as special.
So whoever that is in your life, here’s what I have observed from my own mom, my aunt, and other important mom friends I have grown up around…
Moms show up every day, even when it’s hard.
Whether it’s emotional support, endless multitasking, or just being your biggest cheerleader, moms constantly put others before themselves.
Moms shape who we are.
From values, to confidence, to unconditional love, a mother’s influence runs deep—celebrating them is a way of honoring the foundation they’ve helped build in our lives.
Moms deserve recognition, not just routine.
This is a big one. It’s easy to take their everyday magic for granted—Mother’s Day is the perfect reminder to pause, appreciate, and shower them with love and gratitude.
Girly Gift Ideas Under $100 For Mother’s Day
So whether the mom you’re shopping for is a makeup maven, skincare enthusiast, or someone who just embraces being a girly girl, I have curated a list of thoughtful girly gift ideas for the recipient, no matter what stage of motherhood they are in — all under $100 — that will make her feel super special!
*If you don’t have time to head into a physical store, be sure not to drag your feet with ordering these things in time for them to be delivered (that’s what always gets me in trouble :)).
Beauty Gifts
- Silk Slip Zodiac Sleep Mask, $75. A good night’s sleep is a luxury, and moms need it more than anyone! I always sleep better when there’s no light in the room. This highest grade mulberry silk mask comes in all of the zodiac signs with a box for presentation, and you can get the zodiac that is personal to her!
- Tatcha Mini Favorites Set, $65. She’ll be super excited to be able to try out all of the best sellers from the luxe Japanese skincare brand Tatcha. Every product in this clear pouch will be something she can use to step up her skincare routine. I’m partial to the rice cleanser and the Kissu lip mask.
- Sephora Favorites What’s In My Bag?, $42. This set of 8 viral favorite mini-beauty products will give her options to try out my personal fave dry shampoo, jelly lip+cheek stain, mascara, and more!
- Guerlain Customizable Lipstick Case, $38 + Rouge G Velvet Lip Refill, $42. It screams, “I’m so glamorous!” Choose a Guerlain velvet lipcolor refill, then choose which case feels most like mom (would she like art deco, cheetah print, red croc, etc). It’s a bit over the top, but pulling it out of your purse and swiping it on would make any woman feel like a queen!
- Bauble Bar Semi-Precious Block Initial Necklace, $48. I own this one in the multi-colored rainbow vibe, but it also comes in a golden and a light pastel version. I wear it ALL the time and love that it has the initial in the center of it. I throw it on with the most boring of T-shirts, and it immediately makes any outfit cuter!
Mother’s Day Gift Ideas for the Home
- Furbish Studios, $29- $98. The perfect gift DOES exist on this website! From aprons to dish towels and the funniest/witty needlepoint throw pillows on the planet, you’re bound to find something she’ll love that looks so unique. Personal faves are this witty apron, $48, and this perfect mom pillow!
- Dragon Glassware, $29-$49. I personally love a fancy wine glass – is there anything better than plopping down on the couch after a busy day with a beautiful glass of rosé in hand?? I own their gold Barbie wine glasses (they have a pink interior!) and would be cute paired with mom’s fave bottle of wine. This brand is of great quality, and they have various categories from pop culture to choose from, and most come in sturdy boxes that make for great presentation. Mom doesn’t drink wine? NO problem! They have double-walled coffee mugs and insulated tumblers, too!
Accessory Gifts
- Mark + Graham Oversized Straw Beach Tote, $99. Summer is quickly approaching and what woman on this earth doesn’t love a great tote bag?? This straw tote is chic but big enough to tote all the things to the beach or the lake. And it gives you the option to personalize it with monogramming!
- Kate Spade Madison Bifold Wallet, $57. I just bought myself one of these wallets from the Kate Spade outlet nearby, and I’m obsessed with the color and function ( I got “surf pink”)! If your mom has been using the same old worn-out wallet, maybe it’s time to gift her a new one, and this one is well-made and super cute for the price point. It’s a gift they’ll use daily and think of you every time! The outlet also has some stellar leather handbags for great deals.
- Makeup Brushes by BK Beauty, range from $15 per brush up to $38 per brush, travel brush bag, $45. If mom hasn’t been loving her makeup lately, maybe she needs brand-new tools! And the BK Beauty brand is my go-to. They also have sets that range from $60 and up, if you don’t know which individual ones to buy. My personal individual faves are the 109 mini contour brush (wouldn’t want to live without it), the 113 small flat powder brush, and the A506 fluffy concealer brush!
- Intelligent Change: The 5 Minute Journal, $28. This chic journal comes in a variety of colors, and helps to cultivate gratitude and mindfulness for under 5 minutes a day. I have been using this for over 2 months now and keep it on my bedside table to encourage me to actually write in it! Best of all, this gratitude journal provides writing cues to set the flow. It’s also undated, so you can begin jotting down your thoughts whenever you’re ready. This is a super thoughtful and inexpensive gift for really anyone! Buy one for yourself AND mom!

If you missed last week’s post, I posed the big question, “What Do You Like About The Way You Look?” and I loved reading your responses in the comment section!
Whether you birthed a child, are a dog or cat mom, or you have provided the invaluable role of nurturing and guiding a child through life as a grandparent, sister, or aunt, mothering is an essential and important part of a family unit. Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrate!
