today, back by popular demand is my skin care, hair care, and makeup routine.
my skin care regimen changes every so often. i don’t know if it’s all in my head or if there’s scientific proof but i don’t stick to one product for more than three months at a time. i’ve always thought that skin is very similar to exercise in the fact that your body builds a tolerance to a specific regimen. so i shake things up every few months even if i LOVE a specific product. through the years i’ve run the gamut from drugstore steals to department store splurges. here are my favorites.
morning skincare: cleanser; drugstore steal; eye cream; drug store steal; sunscreen; moisturizer; drugstore steal
nighttime skincare: cleansing oil; towelettes; vitamin C oil; moisturizer; drugstore steal
some of you noticed i am growing the mop out just a tad. but here are a few photos of the ‘do’ when it was shorter. when did i go gray? well, i’ve had gray hair since the ripe old age of 17. if you read the About page here you might have noticed a few gray strands in that painting age 32. through the years i more or less concealed rather than reveal the gray with highlights. about eight years ago, my minneapolis stylist suggested i let it go ‘au naturel’ and that’s just what i did and never looked back. what products are used to keep it in tip-top condition?
daily: kerastase shampoo; twice a week i use a silver/blonde r+co shampoo; kerastase conditioner; silver/blonde r+co conditioner; r+co pomade; r+co styling cream; weekly: kerastase deep conditioner
my makeup routine is very simple. and takes about 10 minutes to apply. i am a no fuss no muss kind of gal. here’s what i use: primer, foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, eyebrow pencil, blush, and lipstick. my mother told me to never leave the house without freshening my lipstick. and i’ve more or less done my best to do just that. here are my daily go-to’s.
i love to use a primer before my foundation as the foundation glides on seamlessly and lasts all day. primer; i switch between this tinted moisturizer bare radiance; bare minerals fairly medium (both are light and airy); if you like a heavier foundation i like diorskin star 020; concealer 0.5– i apply this after my foundation is in place. current eyeshadow palette; eyeliner; brow pencil taupe; mascara; blush; favorite lipsticks – nars, laura mercier, and dior. current shades in tutti frutti, lana, or darling
there you have it, ladies. skin, hair, and makeup from yours truly. happy sunday!
Most of us like the pots and colors of skin care and makeup. As a young girl, I was fascinated with makeup and the pretty colors and fragrances. I have read good reviews about the Kerastase products. Since my hair has turned all silver, I’ve had trouble adjusting some of my makeup. Some eyebrow colors look orange-ish…maybe an ash blonde would be best… xoxo
