happy first friday in march! lots going on today with fridays with oscar. i’m gushing over the always pan, this cute faux leather jacket that’s back in action, and the gorgeous temps’ mother nature decided to deliver. let me tell you, the weather has been oh so delightful this week. in fact, it’s been so nice that my backyard landscape project has picked up steam. yes, we are looking at the finish line even as i type. today’s photos were taken a week ago, so the landscapers had just planted the bushes. can’t wait to share how a-ma-zing both front and backyards look.
is it time to head to my local nursery and pull my gardening clogs from storage? not yet, but we’re inching closer. spring cannot come quickly enough, especially after the year we’ve all endured. but hope springs eternal, and spring is a reminder of all things new and wonderful. i can assure you nothing beats spring in the south. hello, dogwoods! hello, crepe myrtles! hello, gardenias! it’s been a while since we last saw you.
y’all know fridays are hands down my favorite day of the week. one reason is my favorite german shepherd is on hand to usher in the weekend. another reason is whipping up a delicious cocktail and sharing a healthy recipe with you. so come on in and sit a spell.
the always pan with a one-pan dish
as you can see, oscar enjoys his yard no matter what. add a ball into the mix, and this guy is one happy camper. sometimes, i have to hide his football to get some peace. this dog rarely wears out! but i’m happy to spend time outdoors with him even if i throw the ball one hundred and ninety-nine times. believe you me, i am no tom brady when it comes to accuracy or distance. but i do my best.
today, i am gushing over a new pan that arrived a month or so ago. many of you might be familiar with the always pan from our place. someone had emailed me recently asking for my opinion of this pan. if that was you here are my thoughts: where have you been all my life?! not only does the always pan save space in your cupboard with its multi-purpose uses: fryer, skillet, steamer, colander, and fry pan. but it has a handy dandy built-in spoon rest on the pan for the accompanying spatula, two easy-pour spouts, and a stay-cool handle. what i love the most is how easy clean-up is with this ceramic pan. definitely a wise purchase considering the price.
Pour chilled Prosecco and Hpnotiq into a coupe glass and top with cranberry juice. Add a lemon peel for garnish. Serves 2.
today’s cocktail came from Cocktails for Book Lovers. they claim literature and libations go hand-in-hand. who am i to argue? if you haven’t heard Style at a Certain Age hosts book club for Style an online book club. click on this link to join. this month we’re reading The Daughters of Kobani. come join us.

Love your OOTD. Can’t with to see your landscaping reveal. Glad you and Oscar are enjoying the good weather (and the football) despite the ongoing work. The recipe looks great too, and quick and easy. Love that, especially for a Friday! Have a lovely weekend!
Love the look! I especially love the way the boots pick up the color in the top.
I make a dish similar to this one. I use smoked sausage, red beans and throw in a handful of chopped collards. I’m next door to the big easy so I’m influenced by the way they cook.
That book looks interesting, Beth. I am hold #58 on three copies currently on order at my county library. Hopefully the powers that be will take notice and order more copies of this one! Still liking that jacket… Have a great weekend!
Cute outfit. I am wearing something similar today myself. Navy fax-leather jacket with blue, red and yellow flower blouse and jeans,
I just love Oscar! He is so beautiful and I am sure a lot of company for you.
Love your outfit. The blue moto jacket just arrived at my house – can’t wait to try on. Ordered the blouse you are wearing (in both patterns). I adore smocking! Also ordered both matching skirts. And another Scoop Blouse. And another Scoop skirt. I have no discipline. I’ll also have to have that pan – can’t decide between red and blue. Please hug and kiss Oscar for me – Wish I could do it myself! 28 degrees here, still snow-covered, but sky was blue!
Yum and yum, you always hit the nail on the head, Beth.
Love your choice of stone for your backyard and the curved lines. So many people make the mistake of straight lines for beds and paths, that are never found in nature. Your colour choice of stone, gives the support of a strong element and good footing, without the sterile cement look. Am so looking forward to seeing it develop. Great mental health during our current lack of social outlets. 🌷
Good afternoon, Beth! I received my blue faux leather moto jacket from Walmart a couple of hours ago. You were right. It’s a WINNER in all categories. It’s a beautiful blue gray and super buttery soft. The XS fits me so nicely. It runs true to size( for size reference incase someone needs a comparison. I’m 5’2″ and 112 lbs).
