happy friday, gang! and a very happy mother’s day to all of you! this is the time of year our thoughts always go to our mothers and their impact on our lives. those of you lucky enough to celebrate this special day with your mom enjoy every minute! through the years, i’ve shared snippets of my mother on the blog. oh, how i wish she were here to share this day devoted to mothers. franny-lou, as her friends liked to call her, was an inspiration in so many ways. of course, we shared a love of shopping, clothes, and ladies’ lunch which continue to be a few of my favorite things! and we both sported a short ‘do’ that we adored! but what i miss most is my biggest fan and cheerleader in life is now gone. mom was always there to pick me up when i fell, setting me back on course, wiping away the tears, and putting a smile back on my face. what would i have done without you? thanks, Mom, for always being there for your only daughter. you will always be treasured and missed.
flowers, muffins, and a yogurt parfait are on the menu. simple, easy dishes to serve on Mother’s Day. oscar is back for his weekly gig! and a new cocktail – rose martini is being shaken not stirred. so come on in and enjoy fridays with oscar.
the PR team from Talbots sends goody boxes from time to time to my utter surprise and delight. one never knows what’s tucked inside. this summery orange striped sweater was one of the items selected for this edition. orange is one of my favorite colors once summer arrives. typically i add a pop of gold for an accent whether it’s a belt, bangles, or shoes. today’s ootd confirms my love of gold and orange as a new pair of metallic slingbacks are in action! love how the shoes add subtle texture and flair to this simple outfit. since the sweater has bold white stripes it was a no-brainer to pull on a pair of white denim. but not just any old pair of white denim. notice this pair is cropped and flared. it’s a silhouette that’s modern and fresh. the reviews mentioned to size up which i did but i wish i’d stuck with my usual size 8 as these jeans are a tad big…since orange is the color du jour i couldn’t resist adding my orange handbag with bamboo handles from Mark and Graham.

Love this sweater with the white pants but orange is not my color. Looks great on you though. I see it comes in blue also, one of my favorite colors. I might have to get it in blue. Happy Mothers Day to you. Enjoy the day with your sons. My son and family lives in Colorado but my daughter and family lives here and we will spend the afternoon together. I too miss my mother terribly and all the love she showed me and my siblings through the years. Love you Mom.

What a wonderful gifts that your mother gave you. Just look at who you are in this world a very strong woman with an amazing backbone and so many talents.

This year I celebrate my Mom’s 100th birthday and it is right after this weekend. I too, learned a lot about style and shopping from this stylish example in my live. She is still bright and pretty determined and we enjoy our time together.

The orange is so fun! I just ordered a beautiful orange dress yesterday from Nordys, I’ve had my eye on it for a while, it went out of stock in my size but was back and on sale so I jumped on it! Will be perfect for a trip to the CA central coast area in late May, as it has 3/4 sleeves. Will shop my closet for gold accessories to pair with it per your recommendation today – that combo looks great!
