Flowy skirts offer a breezy and feminine alternative to heavy denim, perfect for those scorching summer days. The flowy silhouette provides effortless style while allowing for maximum comfort and breathability. But if skirts aren't your thing, don't worry – I have four more options.

For a sophisticated and polished look this summer, consider adding wide leg pants to your wardrobe. These flowy, loose-fitting pants offer a refined and elegant silhouette that can elevate any outfit. Whether you choose a high-waisted pair for a flattering shape or opt for a bold pattern to make a statement, wide leg pants are a versatile option that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Pair them with a fitted blouse or a classic button-down shirt for a chic and put-together ensemble that exudes sophistication and style.

If you like a casual option, then these pinstripe linen pants from Talbots might tick all the boxes. It has a matching cropped jacket for a sporty suit ensemble. I paired the linen pants with a contrast ribbed tee from Massimo Dutti (limited sizes, similar here, here, and here) and platform slide sandals (similar here). Add one of my favorite black pebble leather handbags with a bamboo handle (old, similar here, here, and here), and I’m ready to head out the door in style.

Whether you opt for a floral print, a solid color, or a whimsical pattern, maxi dresses are a versatile option that pairs well with sandals, wedges, or even sneakers for a more laid-back look. This a helpful column. I love the shorts outfit! I’m on the short side (5′ 2″) for maxi dresses but am looking for wide-leg linen trousers. Maybe Kelly can weigh in on the Soleil pants?
Hi Maeve! Kelly here…I wore the Soleil Pants in a petite size small, and they were a bit big for me. They were fine for the length, but I would have sized down one or two sizes so they fit my backside more like the models on the website. I will say that they are incredibly soft and comfortable. So it really depends on how roomy you want them to be, but the length for petite was perfect in the petite sizes. I hope that helps! xo Kelly
The maxi dress is so pretty! I love maxi’s and midi’s for summer! I don’t like how my legs look in shorts unless I use leg make-up, which is such a pain. Self-tanner alone doesn’t work because it doesn’t hide veins or spots…so lots of maintenance to wear short things.
Thanks for the reminder about dresses!
