Happy Thursday! I have a beach vacation to Mexico coming up in May and I am already thinking about what to wear! This activity of planning my outfits helps me get into a vacation mindset, and while it’s early still, the daydreams of sunny beaches and tropical water really make these chilly, rainy days of February feel less wintry.
It’s not only my vacation that has me thinking about refreshing my beach and warm weather wardrobe. There are a few items I have been excited to replace and update. For instance, I haven’t bought a new bathing suit in a couple years and I am interested in a new style. Plus, with our hot summers in Georgia, a new sundress (or 2, or 3) is always top of mind when spring begins to emerge.

New Bathing Suit
I have been wearing the same style of suit for the last several years and I am ready for something new. I will always love my tried and true Ruched One-Pieces from J.Crew, but I want to try a two-piece this year. So I decided to take a chance on a brand that I have seen advertised in various places, Albion Fit.
I wanted a something with full coverage and a higher waistline. For a petite, it’s hard to find a higher-waisted bottom that doesn’t come up way too high on my torso. Albion Fit has a style that is mid-high-waist, that fits me just at my belly button – the Simone Bottoms have a tie detail at the waist that is feminine and modest.

I did get a top to match the print, the Deep V Bikini Top. The fit seems true to size on both pieces, but if you are larger-chested, you might want to size up one size on the top, or go with a different style, as the Deep V Top is a little tight in the bust.
The Mini Carolina Caftan is from Tuckernuck. It is not in petite size, but since it’s a beach coverup, one can be forgiving in the sizing. The only difference really, is the overall length is a little longer on my frame. It’s perfect for going from beach to bar!
I am excited to break out my Melissa Possession Jelly Sandals. I got these jelly sandals last summer and they quickly became my go-to sandal for all kinds of casual outings and for the beach. They are super comfortable and cute!

Pleated Shirtdress

I wasn’t sure at first about this Pleated Shirtdress. It’s a little hard to tell how it will fit from the website. But I am so happy with this dress. I bought it in Petite xs and it fits like a dream! Plus I love the feminine pleats arranged in such random ways; it gives this dress visual interest, movement and It feels unexpected. The pleats add an element of elegance, but when arranged in such an off-kilter way, the detail gives the dress a casual feel.

The dress is lined, and I think one of my favorite aspects of the dress is that the fabric (a blend of cotton, polyester and modal) is very soft, yet crisp, light and comfortable.

I was pleased to see Frances Valentine bring back the Hannah Lunch Box Wicker Bag this year, plus it comes in more colors! And then of course, I can’t resist Espadrille Wedges. These are from Castañer. They are several years old, so this chambray color is no longer available but the style is, you can find it in a beautiful natural color.
