Happy Thursday! Earlier this week, Beth kicked off Resort week with What I Packed for My Resort Vacation and a Swimsuit Guide for 2023. I am following her lead with a Casual Resort Outfit for Petites.
Although I was not with Beth for her trip, I envision wearing this outfit for a stroll around the resort. The Ritz at Lake Oconee has paved paths winding around the grounds; taking you from lakefront through a pine forest, to a golf course. Then of course, I’d stop for a bite to eat at Gaby’s by the Lake.
But, you don't need to take a vacation to wear today's outfit! A casual yet put-together look perfect for spring and summer.

The Linen Resort Shirt is from Madewell. It comes in three breezy colors, this oasis blue color is vibrant, yet cool. This top is not sold as petite, but it has a cropped length, so it works out well for a petite. The resort collar does create a low-cut look, but wearing a tank top underneath, if you prefer, can work out just fine. Madewell is known for its boxy button ups, with slightly oversized fits and looser, laid-back silhouettes – which is a great fit for summer’s hot temperatures!
The perennial favorite, The City Short from Ann Taylor, comes in petite and regular sizing. If a longer hem is for you, Ann Taylor offers the same polished style with the Metro Short and the Boardwalk Short. The clean, straight style of these Ann Taylor shorts works well with the looser, boxy shape of the Linen Resort Shirt for a relaxed, yet polished look.
Every spring I am on the lookout for a new pair of espadrilles to add to my collection for summer. This season, I found these Striped Lace-up Espadrilles from J.Crew Factory. The chambray color matches my oasis blue top and I love the stripe detail. While it’s true there is a difference in the quality of items from the factory versions of my favorite brands, I have found that seasonal items, like espadrille sandals for instance, hold up well for years.
Recently, I purchased the Rag & Bone Belize Straw Bucket Bag from Nordstrom. While this item is a splurge, I will say this bag is gorgeous – the quality is outstanding and it’s a very comfortable bag to wear and use. I have had one other Rag & Bone bag; The Passenger Leather Tote, for about 3 years and I really love it. I can confidently say that Rag & Bone handbags are worth the price tag.
If you like the style of this straw bag, I found a great budget alternative: the Straw Tote Bag from Banana Republic Factory. This particular style is a bit larger and less structured than the Belize Straw bucket bag and it doesn’t have an interior pocket, but it’s a very chic bag, perfect for summer.

That’s a very pretty petite outfit. I wish I were as slim as you. I love the Madewell shirt, but at this stage of life I need tops that cover my stomach. Crop tops do not work for me.
The blues look so nice on you and you give some great alternative items too.
Love the espadrilles!
Hi Nancy, I am not a big fan of showing off my tummy either. While this shirt is cropped for regular sizes, it works out for us shorter gals. The good news is, as you’ve seen, Madewell offers many similar styles in longer lengths. Thanks so much for stopping by today! xo Kelly
Such a cute outfit 😊
Thanks Bea! xo Kelly
