A Few of My Favorite Winter Wardrobe Essentials
Winter Wardrobe Essentials
Cozy Sweater
There are so many options when it comes to a cozy sweater. A simple style uniform I reach for time and again is a cozy sweater, blue jeans, and boots. Voila! Instant chic. There are so many sweaters to choose from, as well as different silhouettes.
Style tips
- Cable knit sweaters, merino wool, or cashmere sweaters are always a welcome sight on a cold winter day.
- Whether you like a v-neck, crewneck, or cardigan, this versatile wardrobe staple can be worn multiple ways for work or the weekend and will last for years.
- My favorite is a sleek turtleneck that looks fantastic with blue jeans. This sweater always lands on my classic winter essentials list.

Casual Coat
A casual coat that will keep you toasty warm on the coldest winter days. A parka or puffer coat is my top pick. What’s the difference, you ask?
Parkas are generally longer in length, thicker, and heavier and come with a fur-lined hood, which comes in handy when the north winds are blowing.
A puffer was made for outdoor activities, and we have Eddie Bauer to thank for this winter essential after a case of hypothermia set in when a fishing expedition went awry. Puffer coats come in a variety of weights and lengths. Some are lighter, making it a perfect option for fall and spring while some are heavier, which are the best choice for winter.
I love this lightweight quilted Barbour jacket that’s perfect for travel. It came along with me to France last year, and it’s coming with me on the Mediterranean cruise that’s fast approaching.

Stylish Scarf
Winter can be cold, dark, and dreary, so there’s never a better time to incorporate bold pops of color into your wardrobe to brighten your day. What better way to introduce fuschia, cobalt blue, or tangerine to your outfit than with a bold scarf? Pattern and print scarves add interest to an outfit, too. Scarves are a great accessory any time of year.
Style tips
- I’ll wrap a scarf around my waist as a belt or tie one on my handbag in summer.
- But come winter, a scarf is a great way to stay warm and stylish. Scarves can be tied in multiple ways around your neck to add a layer of warmth.
- But don’t forget about silk scarves come winter. They go to work and the weekend with ease, which is why they land on my winter essentials list.

Hats and Gloves
When the north winds blow, we can’t neglect our hands and our heads. That’s when hats and gloves come into play. Technology gloves are an absolute necessity when you want to answer your phone in frigid temps. And what can I say about beanies, except they are the best way to stay stylishly warm?

Ankle Boots & Chelsea Boots
Boots are great as they’re typically water and snowproof yet look sharp with so many different outfits. If you’re like me, you’ll find these are the boots you reach for time and again. Unless it’s super snowy or cold, thank goodness it only snows in Georgia once in a blue moon, and my footwear isn’t dictated by the weather.
