Another style formula for winter that’s easy to put together is a skirt + sweater + boots. If the weather is mild, I will exchange the boots for flats. I know I know many of you are thinking, “I don’t wear skirts anymore,” to which I reply, “Why not”?” On my recent trip to Europe, I was struck with the thought that so many European women wear skirts and boots. It was a refreshing sight. I’m definitely a separates gal, as you can mix and match your tops and bottoms with so many other items in your wardrobe, creating endless outfit possibilities. And I still wear skirts when I’m out and about. Of course, a simple black turtleneck looks fantastic paired with jeans or trousers. But it also looks fantastic with skirts.

Black suede knee-high boots and a black tote compliment the black color scheme, along with the black sunglasses. A neutral color like black goes with just about anything you throw at it, but black and grey play nicely together. In my humble opinion, when gray and black are mixed properly, they have an impossibly chic effect and are perfect for a cold winter day.
