I’m putting on the pink today! Pink is one of my favorite colors for so many reasons. It’s nurturing, playful, romantic, and passionate. That’s due to the many shades of pink, from pale pink to shocking and everything in between. Pink can remind us of our childhood (my childhood bedroom was pink and white) and is associated with love. Pink is a calming color, feminine and upbeat. Recently, it’s had a fashion moment with Barbiecore Pink seen everywhere the past year. I can’t wait for the Barbie movie to premiere this summer, starring Margot Robie and Ryan Gosling. It looks hilarious!

Today’s ootd is a version of my style uniform - the 4Bs - blazer, button down, blue jeans, and ballet flats. It’s an outfit I can put together in minutes, knowing I can confidently step out the door. If you’re new to the blog, you might be scratching your head, wondering what a style uniform is. Simply put, a style uniform consists of wardrobe staples that you can pull together at a moment’s notice. Everyone needs a great pair of jeans; my favorite brands are J.Crew, Ralph Lauren, Paige, Frame, Wit & Wisdom, Scoop, and Free Assembly. If you haven’t found your perfect pair of denim, devote an afternoon to trying on every brand known to mankind. You’ll find one, I promise.

Style tip: before heading to the dressing room, wrap the waist around your neck. If it fits nicely, then you’ve found the right size to try on. Dark rinse or black jeans are perfect for evening as it’s dressier than a light rinse or white denim that visually adds pounds. Today, I’m wearing straight-leg denim.

Next on my style uniform list is a go-to blazer. Navy and black are good choices as they are neutrals. Once those selections are in your closet, branch out with your favorite colors. And don’t forget about tweed blazers that add instant elegance to your outfit. Today, I’m wearing a tweed fringe jacket from Ann Taylor.

A button-down is the next wardrobe staple of my style uniform. But a button-down can easily be exchanged for a silk blouse or tee. That’s the beauty of a uniform, as you can easily exchange one item for another depending on the season. I chose a simple white tee since it’s summer and living is easy.

Shoes always make or break an outfit, so choose wisely. I couldn’t resist these pink tweed pumps that perfectly matched the pink tweed blazer. They are all sorts of fun to wear! If heels are no longer in your comfort zone, I recommend block heels, wedges, or kitten heels. For a casual outfit, you can’t beat ballet flats or sneakers.

Once your style uniform is in place with key wardrobe staples you can mix and match, exchange core pieces, dress it up, or dress or dress it down.

Dear Beth, You look astonishly beautiful in your Barbie Pink! I, too, am a HUGE fan! It takes GUTS to wear hot pink! Thank you for your post! Being an architect and interior designer for almost forty years I must say that PINK feeds a romantic’s heart! Kudos to you, Dear Lady!💝
I just love a vibrant shade of pink! It always brightens my mood. Thanks for stopping by!
Oh Dear Beth, how I enjoyed this “pink” post. You look amazing in bright pink!! It is so uplifting and it is such a happy color. It is my favorite color and it brought me such joy to read this on our dreary, rainy, stormy SC morning. I’ve been looking for a pink blazer and this is it!! Thank you for bringing this adorable post to us this morning.
Debbie 🌸💖🌸
You will LOVE this blazer, Debbie! And you’re right. Pink is an uplifting, happy color!
Beth,
Wait! What? Wrap the waist around your neck? Never heard of that but I’m anxious to try it
It sounds crazy but this tip works!
My favorite colors are pink and then red I love this tweed cut away blazer! I have many blazers but I went ahead and ordered this blazer. So cute! Can hardly wait for the Barbie movie to come out.
This blazer is pinkilicious!
Isn’t magenta the color of the year? Such a pretty color! I always get compliments when I wear pink
It is! Thanks for reminding us! Such a beautiful shade of pink.
Jeans, white tee and tweed jacket – so good. Pink jacket and shoes are darling. There are pinks for every color palette. The tweed of this jacket mellows the pretty, bright pink making it very wearable. My 1961 Barbie has an evening gown in this shade:) She never gains weight and hasn’t aged a day – still looks great in that gown.
Barbie always had the best figure. But that wardrobe! And the cars…
It’s just such a pleasure to read your blog everyday!
I love pink and of course loved Barbie in my day. So cool that you did a post about this. I’m looking forward to the movie too!
I remember when you did a post about “Yellowstone.”
So fun and always right on trend Beth.
Absolutely love this outfit!
I’m so happy to hear this, Nancy! I so appreciate all of the love an support you send our way!
Beth,
Today’s OOTD was stunning. Love the pink blazer and pumps. This is something that would work for me during the months of January – March and, maybe, early April. It’s so hot, I can’t even think about wearing a jacket/blazer unless I carry one into church or a restaurant. June, July, August, and September for me mean airy dresses, light capris, shorts, and maybe white jeans at night.
Hi Beth,
I adore your gold belt! Do you have a link for it? Also, is this jacket for summer only? I love the look but the weather here is so hot I don’t think I could wear it.
Hi Susan! The gold belt is years old from Ralph Lauren. But this jacket could be worn during the shoulder seasons – spring and fall.
