hot summer days need easy breezy dresses. every summer, i’m on the hunt for new additions to my wardrobe. but when i find a budget-friendly peasant dress, i know i’ve hit the jackpot. sometimes, you just have to say yes to a dress that will keep you cool, chic, and comfortable all summer long.
today i’m getting the house guest-ready as one of my dearest friends from my Houston days is coming for a visit! can’t believe it’s been over twenty years since we’ve seen each other face-to-face. it’s perfect timing as the house is finally put back together from the bathroom renovation. and y’all know from yesterday’s post that my backyard is open. oscar might have his nose out of joint as his room errr the guest room will be occupado. sorry, oscar! on thursday, we’re headed to Savannah for a few days, so stay tuned to a packing list and restaurant selections. plus, we’re going on a ghost tour friday night that should be loads of fun. yes, Savannah is included on “the most haunted cities” list along with Salem, New Orleans, St. Augustine, Charleston, and San Antonio, to name a few. there’s a spooky, Spanish moss-covered cemetery named Bonaventure that we’re certain to visit. but our main goal is shopping! now that’s what a perfect girl’s trip is all about! follow along on Instagram Stories for behind-the-scenes action.
today’s ootd is so easy to put together. and it’s easy on your wallet. the peasant dress and the straw handbag are from Scoop, a line exclusive to Walmart. it’s true. style doesn’t have to be expensive as there are soooo many price points available these days.
this peasant dress with puff sleeves (sleeves are having a moment this year) comes in three colors – black, mint, and cream. the fabric is 100% cotton with a nice texture. the dress is unlined but not see-through with a lovely loose fit. some of the reviews suggested to size down. today, i’m wearing my usual size medium. while the dress has lots of fabric due to the tiered skirt, i didn’t feel overwhelmed with extra volume. if you are petite or small-framed, you might consider sizing down. since straw handbags are oh so fun to carry this time of year, i reached for a striped handbag from the Scoop line that’s so darn cute! it comes with a drawstring pouch that keeps all of your essentials safe. it’s the perfect companion to the budget-friendly peasant dress. wedge sandals old, similar here and here are the finishing touch. if i’ve said it once, i’ve said it a thousand times; wedge sandals give you comfort, support with the height we love. it’s my go-to summer sandal.
