since college, Thursday has been the unofficial kickoff to the weekend. oh sure, Fridays have been and always will be the official start. no one goes around muttering TGITh. but an entire restaurant chain was devoted to TGIF. Friday will always get all the glory ‘cuz we love to let our hair down and relax come Friday afternoon. and Saturday? well, that’s the day we can do anything we want, like loaf on the couch or sit through a double-header or putter in the garden. and hump day is a victory of sorts since we made it halfway through the week. Sunday is a day of rest or should be. Monday? some people can’t trust that day. and Tuesday? well, we’re still getting the week in gear when you roll around. but i will always love Thursday for the simple reason that it’s one day removed from Friday. it’s the sweet spot. the weekend looms in sight with all the possibilities it brings along. wanna plan a getaway? or make dinner plans? or binge-watch a television show? Thursday is a good day to do that.
this weekend is fairly quiet for me. but come Sunday, the week gears up as kelly, and i head to Atlanta for a little girl time. dinner reservations are made, and come Monday morning; it’s all about a day of shopping and a girls’ lunch. in my mother’s world, shopping expeditions always required lunch. who was i to disagree? it’s a tradition women worldwide hold near and dear. then on Wednesday, i head back to Atlanta with friends for more shopping. then next Saturday finds me in the Braves stadium munching on a hotdog dripping in mustard and chattering, “hey, batter, batter, batter – swing!” it’s been forever and a day since i attended a baseball game. needless to say, i’m EXCITED! stay tuned to blog posts with recaps of the anticipated fun.
but let’s give the nod to my favorite day of the week with a cute summer outfit. maxi dresses and maxi skirts are just plain fun to wear this time of year. how adorable is this gingham maxi skirt from Ralph Lauren? dorothy, we’re not in Kansas anymore. okay, the ruby slippers were ditched in favor of denim wedge sandals. but pops of red bring this casual outfit to life. the red patent leather handbag from Frances Valentine is back in action today. along with turquoise bangle bracelets and beaded hoop earrings. this brand has a strong accessories game. and i mean strong. this gingham linen maxi skirt has a side zip and fits tts. tiered skirts and dresses are seen everywhere this season. what i particularly like about this skirt is the ease of movement and, of course, its cheerful print. a cap sleeve white tee from Ann Taylor is just the ticket, and i added a cotton rope belt for good measure. honestly, this outfit can go from Thursday to Saturday with ease.

You look like Summer! Beautiful! My friends and I refer to Thursday as “Friday Eve.” One of my favorite days of the week. Enjoy your upcoming shopping trips!

Lovely outfit. Your matching pedicure is incredibly beautiful.
Good morning, Beth. I was just reading your latest newsletter and noticed that you are wearing an Italian Charm Bracelet in your ‘Meet Beth’ pic. You’re only the second person I’ve ever seen wear one besides me. I learned about them years ago and put together quite a few. I gave them as presents to celebrate every kind of holiday/celebration. It was so fun searching out the charms I wanted to use. I have around 15 myself with all different themes. My favorite is a set of 3 bracelets consisting of flag charms representing all of the countries I’ve visited. I haven’t put any together in years but, I recently put one together for my 5 year old granddaughter with her initials on it. Such a lovely memory.
charm bracelets are wonderful pieces of jewelry. not only are they beautiful but they include memories!
it sounds as if you love your bracelets as much as i love mine. and thoughtful gifts too!
