anyone remember the dr. suess book one fish, two fish, red fish blue fish? how about one stripe, two stripes, red stripe, blue stripe? yesterday i wore red stripes. today, it’s all about blue. because it’s all about a patriotic palette this week ahead of the fourth of july.
the whole crew is in town this week so we are bus-y! lot’s of errands are in order when feeding more than two. somehow i forget just how much you have to shop for when it’s family style. and the dishwasher is always humming. plus, the trash fills up in the blink of an eye. don’t get me started on paper towel consumption. but i love it! i love all of the commotion, clean-ups, and of course my kiddos being underfoot.
but a day full of errands requires a laid-back ootd. right?! so i slipped into a pair of blue jeans and grabbed a striped shirt last seen here. espadrilles are a favorite shoe of mine and Soludos always has a great selection. the pair i have on today are several years old but i’ve linked similar ones here, here, and here.
today, i cuffed my jeans to show off my shoes. this is a style trick i use now and again for just that purpose.

the last time i wore this shirt i tied the self-tie belt around my waist. today, i ditched the belt in favor of a relaxed look.

the porch is ready for the fourth.

Hi Beth, loving the look today. Your striped shirt looks so fresh and and really suits you. I think the jeans cuffed up show off your shoes too. Looks like you are getting in the swing ready for the 4th of July xoxo
The cuffed jean with the tied espadrilles is a winner. Really looks good with the length you’ve got the cuff to show off the shoes.
Cute look. I looked at this shirt and realized it’s very similar to J Crew tops I have from the past, but this one includes the tie. I have a few and they are so comfy and crisp come hot weather. I have a (thin stripes) blue and white one, and a plain white shirt like it. I wear them a lot. Your espadrilles look cute with this. Mr Style has a good eye once again for his location selection, and the flower box pix at your home are lovely! Happy 4th week!
I think this look would look great with plain old white sneakers for a “running around” look! Your right about loving the commotion! Miss my kids (and now grand daughter) underfoot! I wish and pray to have them all around ๐ . Have a great 4th Beth!
Love, love, love your take on the 4th…stripes, espadrilles, and decorations! Have a super Summer fun time with Mr. style and your family…
Whoops sold me on the purse longchamps
Just the perfect casual outfit! Adorablue on you. Very patriotic decor – bet you have a red, white & blue scarf for Oscar too ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ
Love your site. Great outfits yesterday and today but I just donโt care for capped sleeves. Sleeveless, three-quarter, or rolled up sleeves to me are much more flattering. But again, the combos are great.
I was checking out the blue stripe shirt on J Crew and debating to get it (I have something similar that is more of a tunic) when I saw it in multi colored stripe! Sold. I love a shirt with a tie but one where the tie can come off makes it my favorite thing- versatile!
I love your look! Happy 4th! I have a similar tote that is Patricia Nash! I love seeing your style tips and enjoy reading about your adventures!
