starting the month off on the right foot with a stroll through midtown atlanta.
this weekend, mr. style and i bopped down to atlanta. it was another airport run as our oldest is home for a visit. as a matter of fact, all three kiddos will be in town this week to help celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary.
but before the festivities begin it was fun to spend a delightful evening in the big peach. the weather was a – ma – zing with a cool breeze blowing the entire two days and temps in the eighties. can you say perfect? cuz it was. so perfect that i threw on a favorite linen jacket by INC. over a fun pair of striped cargo pants from LOFT and metallic tee by Talbots for a little sightseeing along the streets of midtown atlanta. the house above is margaret mitchell’s home.
if you noticed the gold hardware on the linen military inspired jacket then zoom down to my sandals that mirror this design detail. metallic shoes also act as a neutral and it’s a good idea to keep both silver and gold on hand – they go with everything. this pair by steve madden similar here and here is a dream to wear when there’s more than one mile to log in. and this girl is never happier than when roaming up and down city streets gawking at local architecture.
midtown atlanta is a walkable stretch of city that’s less than a mile from centennial olympic park. known as ‘heart of the arts’ it is home to fox theater, atlanta symphony, and high museum of art intermingled with an abundance of condo’s, apartments, sidewalk cafe’s and retail shops.
while atlanta is bustling with energy and new construction in every direction city planners are hard at work preserving old buildings as well as starting from scratch. it’s impressive to see old and new working in tandem together as well as the impressive preservation of foliage.
piedmont park lies to the south of midtown and is an expansive greenspace that underwent a major expansion in 2011. it’s also a popular venue for cultural festivals.
not a bad way to kick off the week before we zip off to hartsfield airport then back to athens. can you believe the dog days of summer have arrived? august is always a busy month here at the djalali house with three birthdays and one anniversary to celebrate. let the festivities begin!

Congratulations on all the birthday and anniversary festivities coming up!
august is a jam-packed month for us but so much fun! thanks for the well wishes rebecca. it’s hard to believe 34 years have passed by in a blink of an eye. and that’s exactly what it seems like.

Is the color of the linen jacket you are wearing “Foil Olive?”
On the website it appears more “metallic-y” (if that is a word) than in your photos.
Thank you! Love your blog and just watched a YouTube video yesterday for the first time.
Also love your personality, which was made more evident in the youtube video.
actually, i had to go back and look as i was posting this around 2am and was a little bleary eyed. my jacket is a true olive green with no sheen to it so this jacket might be sold out. i purchased this one last year but every time i’ve posted it’s been in stock.
thanks so much for stopping by. it’s lovely to meet you!

…and Happy Anniversary!!!!.
hi jane! thanks so much. i’m having a hard time believing it’s our 34th wedding anniversary. didn’t i just turn 34 myself? gosh it goes by fast.

Sounds like good fun–nothing better than having family around! Enjoy, and congratulations on the birthdays and anniversary! I like this jacket–I have one that’s similar and while I do use it a lot, I tend to wear it more in the fall. I should break it out for work here this week–it’s a bit cooler and inside, I need it! See, you’ve inspired me.
awww, that’s so nice to hear! and for whatever reason i tend to wear this jacket often. i think because it is linen and a lighter weight than my trusty jean jacket that takes a back burner this time of hear.

I love that look and your round sunnies are perfect with it! Thank you for your inspiration❤️
I love the look, especially the shimmery tee and the handbag, which wasn’t featured but is a great bag!
We just celebrated our 40th anniversary on Tuesday. You are so right… where does the time go? It does go fast when you are having fun!
