faux fun

it’s groundhog day. punxsutawney phil will make an appearance today and give his famous weather prediction. the entire event is livestream commencing at 6:00am. if phil sees his shadow there’s still six more weeks of winter to contend with. if not, spring is on the way. but if you’ve been paying attention to the retailers in recent weeks, spring has already sprung. at least when it comes to clothing choices.

on mild weather days, it can be a challenge deciding on an outfit. after all, the calendar states it’s winter. but a wool sweater might be a tad too heavy to wear. that’s when a lighter weight topper or coatigan comes in handy. its 3/4 length is quite versatile. pop it over a pencil skirt for a nine-to-five look. or pair it with faux leather leggings for a casual chic ootd. today, i’m running errands, preparing for a trip to new york next week. so i’ve slipped into my prepilicious flats and slung a tote over my shoulder. a leather tote is a good choice as there’s plenty of room for an umbrella, water bottle, and any shopping bags i want to stash inside.

stripes are a good idea no matter what season. but i couldn’t resist bringing in a subtle pattern play with a silk polka dot scarf. it’s tied into a neckerchief. for those of you interested in a scarf tutorial – stay tuned. there’s a video in the works.

it’s february, ladies! and according to punxsutawney phil, six more weeks of winter. we can do this.
