what are several tried-and-true classics you can count on year-after-year? here’s my list: tortoise shell, leopard, button-down, and a denim skirt. these are the workhorses in my closet that easily transition from one season to the next. today, my mood is casual with some spit and polish. notice the white skirt? it can straddle summer/fall, especially when paired with darker colors. so a khaki button-down with military-inspired pockets is perfect. remember, the military look is on trend this year (although in my opinion it never goes out of style) so look for blazers, shirts, or outerwear that suit your taste. and this neutral color scheme perfectly pairs with leopard accessories so guess what i’m wearing? block heels continue to go strong this fall and are easy on the feet so keep your eyes peeled for a pair that you love. you won’t be sorry. the leopard shoes i have on for today’s ootd have been in my closet for three years and see lot’s of action no matter what season. i particularly like the gold heel. now all that’s left are the finishing touches. a tortoise shell bracelet with gold links ties in nicely with the leopard belt and gold statement necklace from BaubleBar. add a structured handbag and i’m off and running this tuesday morning. it’s time to get it in gear for NYFW.

Beth, you have such a talent of for taking basics that regular women wear and elevating them to outfit status. Thank you for the ideas.
hi melinda!
what a lovely compliment! thank you. and i’ve said it before but i’ll say it again, the devil is in the details!

OMG, Too funny–I just bought that shirt a few days ago. Glad to see it’s the color I was hoping it would be! And it looks “crisper” than the online photo. It looks lovely on you.
thanks, sue!
are you certain you aren’t my long lost sister? i always wanted to have one.
xoxo
Love this so much, one of my very favorites, of all the favorites that you show.
hi bonnie!
thanks for stopping by. don’t you just love a white denim skirt?! i have worn mine non-stop this summer. but i particularly like it paired with neutral colors.

This is an excellent transitional look. Love the bag…do you use smaller bags to help organize and to make changing bags easier? xoxo
i’ve heard that using smaller bags help with transitioning from one bag to the next. but i have a simpler method. i just dump all of my belongings into whatever bag i’m using.
xoxo
You crack me up! If I did that I’d never find anything. Part of the reason that I carry a large (read heavy) bag is that there are meds, coupons and assorted other things the Mr asks for each time we are out. Methinks he needs a “murse” (man purse). xoxo
Love everyting you are wearing – shoes, skirt, belt, shirt and handbag. The bracelet and necklace are gorgeous too, but I’m usually don’t use… The bag is something!!
this bag is getting a lot of love! i think because it has timeless appeal. and who doesn’t love that!
xoxo
GOLD HEELS!!! I’m in.
