take a seat and sit a spell. or maybe grab your rocker ‘cuz it’s time to open our front porch y’all. this has to be my favorite time of year. there’s something magical about birds chirping, bees buzzing, and those butterflies flittering. and i’ll do my part to invite those critters onto my porch by offering tasty snacks. it’s no trouble at all to fill my window boxes and urns with verdant blooms and the occasional herb or fern. oh, the joys of spring!
first step dust off those rockers and power wash the slime built up over the winter. mr. style are you ready? looks as if oscar and ollie are ready to lend a hand. okay, maybe just oscar.
second step pay a visit to our local nursery. cofer’s has lots to choose from.. honestly, i could spend an entire afternoon rummaging through the garden art, contemplating which pots make the perfect accent piece, checking out the latest and greatest bird feeders. i just love walking up and down the aisles. it’s so peaceful here hanging out with the plants.

window box plants: cascade white ivy geranium, coleus, english ivy, zonal geranium tango deep pink.
herbs: basil, english thyme, rosemary.
third step. grab my gardening tools and slip into a pair of garden clogs. this six-piece toolset has ergonomic handles and comes with a tote. this makes it soooo easy to transport between the front and backyard. aren’t these clogs adorable? more importantly, they can stand up to the mud and grime that comes along with a garden.

oscar is ever vigilant on the porch. those pesky deer might come too close if he lets down his guard. or so he thinks…
several weeks ago this cocktail made an appearance without the recipe included in the post. today, i’m sharing all the deets of this delicious American Berry Smash. enjoy!
the weather has bounced all over the place this week. but i love cooler temps that allow a sweater and shorts combo. both are from Talbots.
the pillows are plumped and ready to rock and roll. the urn is filled with a macho fern. supposedly they aren’t as messy as boston ferns. fingers crossed. this cute hand painted urn is from Grandin Road. a matching pot is on its way to our porch. don’t tell mr. style… and if you’re wondering where that cute, cute, cute dog topiary is from check out Grandin Road again. they have the BEST selection of unique and interesting outdoor living decor.

Beautiful! My fav, though, is Oscar! Handsome & faithful!
he is such a hoot! and loves his family and home! what more could you want from your faithful companion.

You are as talented in home decorating as you are with clothing, Beth. Your porches are so fabulous and inviting (although it looks like Oscar is a fierce protector of home and hearth!
i’ve probably shared this with you, but i love puttering around my home even more than throwing an outfit together! enjoy your weekend rebecca!

I saw basil in that mix–yum–pesto is my favorite. I make it fresh and put it on spiralized zucchini with shrimp, lemon, and artichokes. You’re making me hungry. Grandin Road always makes me want to try one of everything! Your porch looks inviting and comfy!
Happy Friday/Earth Day!
i can never decide which i like better? the front porch or the screened porch. i am so blessed to have both.

I love Beth’s home and porches! She has a beautiful yard for Oscar and Ollie!
thanks so much, mary! i can tell you first hand oscar loves his yard. and ollie loves the screened porch. she’s an indoor cat so that’s all the action she sees.

I have had my eye on those black and white pots at Grandin Road the last couple of years but just have not pulled the trigger. Also the dog with the lifted leg – not sure my children would approve!!
i think this is the year to pull that trigger DiAnne! love the dog topiaries. the dog with the lifted leg would certainly be a conversation piece. i thought he might look cute in our back yard.
