hooray for friday! it’s been a long week. i’m soooo looking forward to the weekend when i can put my feet up and take a snooze. it’s time for a little r&r. but before we slide into saturday, it’s time for a friday night barbeque. chicken tzatziki bowls are on the menu. yogurt-marinated grilled chicken served over quinoa and cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and olives with tzatziki and Feta. what about a long beach iced tea? it’s a variation of the infamous long island iced tea substituting cranberry juice for the cola. it’s quite refreshing. the perfect drink after a long day.
per usual i’m zipping off to the grocery store for a few ingredients. fridays are always about casual ease, so i chose a pair of boardwalk shorts from Ann Taylor, striped shirt (old, similar here and here), the cutest pair of seersucker sandals last seen here. and an adorable round cornhusk and canvas handbag from Talbots. round handbags are everywhere this spring. so if you’re in the mood to add a trendy handbag to your collection this one will serve you well straight through fall.

all the fixings for a long beach iced tea. gin, vodka, rum, tequila and triple sec make this a one and done drink.

there’s a little salsa garden growing with tomatoes, peppers, and herbs.
our first crop of the year.
there’s nothing quite like cooking with herbs from your own garden.
melamine dishes are the perfect choice for spring and summer outdoor dining. this set is from Ballard Designs. the napoleonic bee glasses are from Macy’s. they’re my first choice of glassware when company is coming. stemmed water glasses add subtle sophistication. and laguiole flatware is ideal for casual dining.

perfect summer meal. the recipe calls for chicken thighs which are tender and juicy.
TGIF! oscar and i wish each of you a lovely weekend. cheers!

Looks like a wonderful recipe! I’m going to try it. Did you decide against the bowls? In your picture, you left the chicken on the skewers. Have you tried it both ways? If so, which do you prefer? Thank you and happy Mother’s Day!
this recipe is a keeper, kelley! delicious and healthy. at the end i opted to plate this recipe to keep the chicken on the skewers for photographs. but it’s just as easy to put everything in a bowl and slide the chicken off the skewers. either way it’s yummy. xo
Thank you for another great tablescape! For my busy and ordinary days (empty nester with kids out of town and close to retirement) , this helps to make my weeks/weekends a little bit more special and I love the ideas you are coming up with – thanks Beth! Have a great weekend!
Ps envious of your tomatoes – lol . We’re in Ohio and teetering on are we gonna get a frost or not).
Menu looks wonderful.. Will have to try it as I love Tzatziki.
Bravo, good idea for a light Greek meal! καλή όρεξη!
Did you forget the iced tea in the long beach iced tea?
if you can believe it, patricia, there is no iced tea in this recipe or with a long island iced tea. but it’s a refreshing cocktail nonetheless. xo
Great recipes and love the pictures of you and your dog!
Just love your classic style, Beth! And thanks for the recipes. Oscar is adorable as always! Have a restful weekend!
That sounds easy and good. I love tzatziki and will have to make this. Thanks for the recipe! Hope you do put your feet up and take it easy. Happy Mother’s Day weekend!
That Oscar is sure one handsome guy! Love your recipes and really look forward to FWO!!
YUM! Love all. Thanks
Since you do FWTFL, are the recipes you post each day good for that day’s requirements? I’m just starting my first round and am looking for good recipes. This one sounds delish!
hi sarah! good luck with FWTFL. it’s such a great program. if this is your first round you need to be a stickler with your food choices to achieve your weight loss goals. i would recommend forgoing the tzatziki which is made with yogurt. for the most part, FWTFL is gluten free and dairy free. but it’s about progress, not perfection so the choice is ultimately yours. my fwo recipes always focus on easy, delicious and healthy because my eating habits have changed drastically since joining FWTFL. but you will find dairy added from time to time. hope this helps! xo
