since sunday’s post was all about denim guess who had to trot out her current favorite – high rise skinny jeans from Madewell? what do i like about these blue jeans? for starters, they are incredibly comfortable. second, the button front detail gives these jeans a little oomph. and third, well, they just look cool with their raw-edge hem and high waist. i had been eyeing this pair for months before i finally pulled the trigger. and i’m happy i did even if they might be on trend this year and gone by next.
another trend that caught my eye is the tie-waist shirts and tie-waist tees. you see them everywhere this year maybe because they look terrific with high waisted jeans. this elephant print shirt from J.Crew Factory is light and airy which makes it perfect for summertime even in the georgia heat. for years i’ve tied my button ups around my waist to achieve the same look. typically there will be a gaping hole right where you don’t want it, and several attempts have to be made this tie-waist shirt eliminates that problem. not only does it look great with high-waisted jeans but it will look adorable popped over a dress.

many of you might remember these orange sandals with a pop of gold across the strap. they were my summer 2016 romance. back then i trotted them out every chance i had. well, they’re baaack! and just as cute as ever. i don’t know why but every season i develop a shoe crush. not certain which shoes will earn that devotion this year but i love pops of color. if you are hesitant about adding color to your wardrobe shoes and handbags are an easy way to ease your way in. take a look at this straw handbag i’ve had for ages. it’s a complementary shade of orange that gives this ootd a nice zing along with the orange sandals and vibrant shirt. plus, straw handbags are a classic summer staple. when the temps heat up, i’m the first one to grab a wicker or straw handbag. they just scream summer!
okay gang, it’s time to get this day started! make it a good one.

I wore my high-waisted skinny jeans today. They are my favorite pants, so I will wear them until they wear out.
