some days, mr. style and i pile into the car and head down to atlanta for the day. it’s an easy trip and there’s shopping galore. the one disadvantage of small town living is when you are on the hunt for something – like home furnishings – there aren’t that many options. but in atlanta the choices are endless – pick a suburb any suburb. but i think my favorite shopping mall is an outdoor venue by the name of avalon located in alpharetta.
so off we went to check out a few of my favorite stores; crate and barrel, west elm, pottery barn, williams sonoma, sur la table. honestly, when it comes to home design or kitchenware stores i could putter around all day. the visual merchanding teams do a stand-up job and there’s loads of inspiration to be found.

with a brisk chill in the air it was time to pop a coat on. from the looks of my ootd it was a gingham kind of day. or black and white. take your pick. both the cashmere gingham cardigan and gingham raincoat were purchased on sale at the end of last season. the cardigan is available here in a beautiful burgundy that’s the on-trend color for fall. or check out this black and white gingham crewneck here. while not a raincoat j.crew has a gorgeous gingham car coat here that’s available and on sale. white boyfriend jeans are a nice change of pace and i have to admit i love wearing white denim all year long. a black silk shirt? that’s a no-brainer any time of year as are black pointy-toed flats similar here.
okay, peeps, that’ll do it for today’s post. it’s back to shopping for this girl. but on a gorgeous fall day like today, i’m happy to stroll up and down these quaint streets.

I’m new to this fun blog but I was wondering why there is no sourcing for the actual clothes you are wearing . It seems to be references to “similar” products, Am I missing something?
hi linda! welcome. the blog is all about style inspiration, sharing my daily outfit, recipes now and then, and home design. classic style is style on repeat and you will see items from ten or twenty years ago appear regularly. if that is the case i link similar items.
Gingham’s always fun–especially black and white. I have the sweater and use it a lot. The coat’s perfect! Have a blast–all those home stores are good fun to browse in. You’re smart to take your time decorating your home–always smart to live in a house and figure out how you’re using it before plowing lots of money into it–then you know what pieces you really want and need.
the one thing i’ve learned with home design is that it takes time to find the right piece. since this is the last house i will own i guess i’ve got nothing but time.
