well, gang, it’s time to roll up my sleeves and get back to work. putting structure back into my life is part of the healing process and helps me deal with my loss. work is the greatest therapy. it keeps me busy, keeps me going and keeps me growing. there are so many good things to share with you in the coming months! many of which mr. style’s guiding hand put into motion which warms my heart and puts a smile on my face.
i wanted to take a moment and say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the love, thoughts, and prayers you’ve showered my family with the past few days. for the past several years there have been many discussions about the negative impact social media has had on society. what with cyberbullying, fomo (fear of missing out), and device addiction. but all of YOU have shown a positive and uplifting side of social media. and i thank you for that. thank you for following along with me on this journey called life. thank you for being there. and many of you will be pleased to know my youngest son is now the steady hand behind the camera. family is everything!
today’s ootd harkens back to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. yes, this mammoth sale is still going strong. all the way through august 5th. this green skirt and striped tee were purchased on my dressing room diaries excursion with my daughter-in-law, kelly. if you missed that post you can read it here. i’m a big fan of having at least one green skirt and pant in my closet. why? because green is a neutral. honestly, it goes with just about everything. and this skirt will easily transition from summer to fall with ease.
today, i’m wearing a simple striped tee with a classic bateau neck, green cargo skirt, gold accessories and sandals. but in the video down below, i switched the gold accessories to brown and wore ballet flats to give you an example of how easy it is to transform your outfit with the aid of accessories. the Patricia Nash handbag (old, similar here and here) available at Macy’s and Dillard’s is the same in both photos and video.
skirt | tee | sandals | similar handbag | lip shade pillow talk | similar belt | similar bracelets
many of you have written asking for affordable beauty products. and i’m listening. two weeks ago i shared a few of my must-have beauty items from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. read that post here. but Walmart has so many affordable goodies that i thought i’d add a few to today’s post.
Olay Regenerist is one of the best moisturizers i’ve used. but Olay offers more than just moisturizers. try their detoxifying facial scrub for a deep clean. or their cleansing infusion facial cleanser for everyday use. Neutrogena is a solid beauty brand that i trust. i couldn’t live without Neutrogena Cleansing Wipes. but i’m eager to try their Sheer Lip Smooch available in four shades. of course, i’m going for the wink and wave‘cuz it’s pink! Cetaphil can’t be beaten when it comes to sensitive skin. try their cleanser and lotion for a one-two punch. for a daily body lotion, i use Cetaphil Daily Hydration Lotion.
i’ve had good luck with e.l.f Cosmetics. i religiously clean my makeup brushes with e.l.f. daily brush cleanser. if you are looking for an affordable brush set e.l.f. offers an 8 piece brush set for $17. now that’s a bargain! Revlon is a brand that harkens back to my youth. and i still love them just as much today. i can always count on Revlon for affordable lipsticks. one of my favorites is Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick. but i also like their Colorburst Balm Stain. if you like pink then try sweetheart. don’t forget Revlon has affordable foundations too. try Revlon Photoready Airbrush Effect or Revlon Age Defying Firming Lifting Makeup. last but not least, don’t leave home without mascara. and i’ve used Revlon Volumizing Mascara for years. it works!
now for some real fun! today, we’re introducing a new feature on the blog and YouTube. it’s called fashion flash. it’s a short sixty-second video that shows today’s ootd in motion! they say a picture’s worth a thousand words but a video is worth even more. let me know what you think.
makeup in the video: Dior Forever foundation, Nars Orgasm blush, Marc Jacobs glow stick. eye makeup: Urban Decay Rockstar, Urban Decay Backfire, Urban Decay Rockstar 24/7 glide-on eye pencil, Two Faced Better than Sex Mascara, Benefits 4.5 brow pencil. lipstick: Chanel La Fascinate.
happy wednesday, gang! time to put a smile on someone’s face, including yours.

I love love this outfit. You look wonderful and yes motion does help grief. Glad to see you back and I’m checking this skirt out now 🙂
Great to have you back! Continued prayers
Super good looking outfit!
Welcome back, Beth!
Another good drugstore body lotion: Curel hydrotherapy. I dislike body lotion, as it feels sticky & hot to me. This is the 1st lotion I’ve found that isn’t. You apply it in the shower and it practically disappears. No hot, sticky feeling.
Great to have you back I missed your posts so much! Mr Style is smiling down on his best girl!
Glad your son has joined you in production of your blog, love the new video segment. The post today has a wear now wear later vibe the Glamour Magazine back in the day would publish at transition seasons. You might consider a bi weekly post of transition outfits using a change/ addition of accessories I know I sometimes need inspiration! Hugs my dear and again so glad you are back!
So happy to see you, Beth! You’re right about getting back to work. It’s a good place to focus. You are all still in my prayers.
Love the outfit. I’ve been eyeing a green skirt. Now you have inspired me to get it!
What a joy to see your email pop-in again this morning! Beloved Mr. Style is smiling to know you’re going forward in the power of love, and the help of youngest son. You’re a beautiful example.
WELCOME BACK! You look fabulous. Best of luck keeping all of us looking good.
Looking good!!
Great to see you back, Beth! I missed you, and I’m sure the rest of your internet family did, too! It’s so nice that your son is behind the camera now. Love the outfit (you always look great) and the super informative beauty product info. Still sending you loving, healing thoughts and virtual hugs.
Great outfit — I love it when you show something that’s similar to an item I own, because it lets me try to incorporate your look, and today’s outfit is perfect for that! Glad to see you in motion as well; that’s a great new feature. You’re looking strong.
Love to hear from you! Video is great, especially now your hair/Make-up and Complete styling fully seen! Thank you! Angela
Hey Beth,
I don’t even know what to say about your dear hubby. I’m so sorry – sending you hugs and prayers. I couldn’t even leave you a message when I first read about him. I’m so glad you shared about him, his pics, how handsome he was, how helpful and supportive he was.
I adore your posts. Green is amazing…and I’ll have to GO BACK to Nordstrom…(giggle, giggle.)
jan
So happy to see you’re back! Good for you for jumping back in the saddle! Love your outfit, especially the skirt which I’ll be checking out. Stay strong and continued prayers and strength for you and your family.

Welcome back…you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Work is a good way to move forward to a “new normal”. Love this outfit and the new features! Welcome to your son-how wonderful…family is everything!
,,They,,say that green is my color! And I am very happy for that! Its a beautiful color. Your look is one I would wear imediatly!
Glad to see you’re back and with the help of your son. Blessings to you and your family.
Beth – you were missed. So glad to see you back and looking amazing as always. Your husband would be so proud of his family. How wonderful to be working with your son. Thanks for the inspiration and great ideas.
Hi Beth, welcome back after such a sad time for you and your family. Lovely outfit, loving the colour and the handbag is fab. Great video, you look beautiful xoxo Julie from England
Awww it was a thrill to see your post today and see you looking so snappy with your fab haircut and tasteful outfit. Your video was a great addition and the setting so nice. I like the accessory change up which could go on and on with this neutral palette. I like day to dinner ideas especially for traveling. Peace and love to you
Welcome back! This is a great look on you! Never thought of green as a neutral but this color would look good on everyone! Thanks so much for sharing.
Welcome back. Your a breath of fresh air.
Beth,
We are so blessed to have you as our fashion-beauty-lifestyle concierge. You always bring new ideas for what to wear, how to style, etc. Today is no different. The khaki green is one of my wardrobe staples in a jean or capri- topped with black top for an easy go-to outfit. But now I am interested in the skirt and striped top!
You and Mr. Style have built on a wonderful idea that continues to grow and help women to look, feel, and live their best lives.
Many thanks!
❤️
Erin
Welcome back…and thanks go out to your son for stepping up to do your photos. I remember when you first started your blog the horror your sons expressed at the quality of the photos, immediately going out and buying Mr. Style a lovely new quality digital camera. Well the son(s) now get to use that wonderful technology and I am sure Mr. Style is beaming. Green…though a neutral, just does not do it for me. But for many, I agree, it should be a staple.
I found work to be so helpful when I lost my Mom — especially work that could be done behind the scenes. So sweet that your son is now serving as your photographer — his Dad would be so thrilled I am sure. May the peace of God comfort you in the coming weeks and months as you navigate your new normal.
I’ve thought about you and the loss of Mr. Style so very often over the last several days….it is wonderful to see you back….your Sass and perseverance is a tribute to Mr. D’s love, life, and style!
So glad to see a new post from you. Love the outfit, the new video, and your style!
Welcome back Beth, your outfit is lovely on you!! I just bought a pencil jean skirt and striped top and will now look for a neutral green skirt to add to my wardrobe!
Welcome back! It is wonderful to see you back and looking strong and beautiful.
I have to say I have never seen a more perfect fit on a top. It’s stunning.
So glad you’re back, Beth, and doing as well as can be expected. Love today’s ootd!! I have some moss green pants I bought this year as a neutral piece. There is just something about adding color as a neutral!! All I need to do now is find some brown flats that fit my narrow feet! Your son does a fantastic job with your pic’s AND the video!! Great idea and adds something special to the blog. Like seeing the clothes ‘in motion.’
Beth, a wonderful post! So happy to see you.
Seeing you in my email made my day brighter! I’m so glad you’re back and it is wonderful that so many reached out to share the love.
Good to see you! Great job your younger son is doing. Heart warming that he has stepped up. I know you are proud of him.
I found work to be a wonderful distraction when my husband of 30 years died suddenly 3years ago . Hang in there , and glad you’re back!
It’s so good to see you back! I am so sorry about Mr. Style & continue to think about you & your family.
Good to see you back! I have heard it said that “the camera looks both ways.” So now we can see your relationship with your son reflected in photos just as we could see your relationship with Mr. Style before! Know that you remain in my prayers.
So glad you are back. You’ve been missed. All the best!
Beth what a class act you are. You are so lovely and a great example of how to deal with heartbreaking loss with class and dignity. What a love story you and Mr. Style have. Nice to see you back.
Welcome back Beth. Love your new video. Many thanks to your son, his dad taught him well, the photographs are gorgeous.

Hi Beth
I am so glad you are back! I love your ootd. The green skirt is a great neutral. The striped top fits you to perfection. Your son has a great eye for photography, as did Mr Style. The video portion is a wonderful addition to the blog. I think of you often and I send love, peace and hugs to you and your family.
BETH, blessings to you and your family. It is great to see you back. Give yourself grace.
So very good to see a post from you. I can only imagine how hard these days have been for you and your family. How heartwarming to have your son behind the camera, Mr. Style clearly knew just what you needed to push through the grief. As Ann Voskamp said, When grief is deepest, words are fewest. Just know your wished peace and healing of your broken heart.
Beth, unfortunately we have something in common. I lost my husband Sunday, July 21. Alan had a massive heart attack here in our home. Today would be his birthday, and it’s hard to know we won’t be celebrating it together. There’s a large hole in my heart because we were married 53 years. I am grateful for my daughter, her husband, my son and two grandchildren as well as a network of friends who are providing prayer support, encouragement and kindness. Everything is overwhelming right now, and I will miss Alan for a long, long time.
Kathy…..I’m just reading some of the comments and please know I just said a prayer for you that the Lord will comfort you in these next days, weeks and months. 🙏🏻
oh kathy, my heart is breaking for you. losing our beloved husbands is not easy. but i’m thankful you have a loving family to step in and surround you with the love you need. trials are never easy to walk through. it’s one day at a time for both of us. xo
I am glad to see you back and moving toward the new normal. I liked even more than the video, although that is a nice touch, how the same outfit could have such a different look with different accessories, that is a plus in my book and I hope to see more of that. Welcome back!
Welcome back Beth. You look great, and your optimism is wonderful every day, and especially knowing what you have been through. You are a light of sunshine, and one reason why I love reading your blog. I look forward to getting to see and know your son if he ever ventures out from behind the camera. I’m sure he will become as loved as Mr. Style was by your readers. I love the video clip – it is a great addition.
Beth…..you look great! Love your hair cut (looks a little shorter on the sides?) and your “new” cameraman (son) is doing an amazing job! Love your blog and continued peace and comfort to you and your family 😘🙏🏻
So happy to see you back so soon, Beth. I hope you have felt surrounded by love and God’s peace. Take care of yourself and we will all understand if there are a few gaps in your blog posts.
I also returned to work after my husband of 37 years passed away in March. It is good therapy. Thank you for sharing, I find it very encouraging and helpful. Love your style and look forward to your blogs.
God Bless, you Carol. losing our beloved husbands is no easy task. it’s one day at a time. but, yes, work is good therapy. xo
Welcome back, you were missed! I don’t normally wear green, but get what your saying about it being a versatile neutral. I’ll give it a try!
A big welcome to your son behind the camera! Looking forward to what you have planned in the coming months!
Welcome back! I’ve thought of you so much lately. You look wonderful ! Darling outfit! Yes, being busy helps with our grief. Hugging you with my heart ❤️
Priscilla
Dear Beth, so pleased you are back and looking so lovely as usual. You have had such a difficult time but you are right to go back to work. Your gorgeous mr style would want that for you . Sending you and your family love and prayers . God bless .xx
I love this outfit and how a quick change of shoes can make it dressy or casual. I also love the YouTube fashion flash! 😍
Wonderful that your son is going to be behind the camera.
Glad you’re back and still praying for daily comfort and peace for you and your family. Just remember to listen to your body and heart and take breaks as you need them. ❤️
So glad to see you back! You are an inspiration & a wonderful role model. I’m so glad your son is helping you, and that you have work that is enjoyable to help you get on with the next stage of your life. God bless you & your family!
Welcome back. I am trying to add more green into my closet. I find that I love the mossy greens, but they don’t look good on my skin tone. I have started to incorporate the color into my accessories. I have even stepped up my game and added some army green booties and pants to my closet. Finding that I can wear the color if it isn’t close to my face. Thanks for the affordable alternatives too.
Great to see your post, Beth! We’re all glad to have you back – and you are right, family is everything. Mr. Style will be missed.
Welcome back dear Beth. It is so wonderful to see your return to your terrific and always inspiring blog. You look elegant and beautiful as always and it is so nice to welcome your son as your new photographer! I love the new fashion flash video. You could give lessons on how to carry yourself and walk like a model.
Been missing you. Glad you are back. You are an inspiring woman. Blessings to you and your family.
Great outfit! Colors are especially flattering for you, I think. And the video is a terrific idea. Thanks for adding it.
Beth, it’s good to see you back.
I’ll be thinking of your and your family over the next few weeks.
Take care-
Leslie
Really like the video! So great to have you back, and continued prayers for you and your family.
Wonderful to see you back. I am so happy that you have family support.
I am so glad that you got to spend a lot of quality time with Mr. Style and I am so glad that I found you on the Web.
I was just looking at a striped tee, yesterday..haha..but it was short sleeved…thinking of buying it. Love your gold with the camo green..glamming it up! Thanks for your work and inspiration <3
So nice to see your email this morning, welcome back Beth. I’ve thought of you so often these last few days and know how hard it is to press on. After I lost my daughter at 43 years of age with a cardiac arrest, I found nature to be my greatest ally as was my little dog. I’m sure Ollie and Oscar will be missing Mr Style as well, pets are so intuitive.
Lovely green outfit today and great work by your son. So nice he stepped in to take up the camera for you. The video was a nice touch, also the change of accessories.
Sending hugs to you from Canada. 🇨🇦
So glad you’re back!
Dear Beth, I soo admire you … welcome back !
Welcome back, Beth! I have really missed you. You look fantastic and loved the ootd and the video. So glad your son is taking over for his father. Family is everything! You are such a class act!
Great idea this flash video! And terrific how you changed up the accessories and make us think about going beyond our first instinct. My attitude about dressing has changed and YOU helped ME look better.
👏👏👏
So glad you’re back Beth. Missed your wonderful blog. As always you look amazing. Please tell your son we are glad to have him behind the camera and would love to see him from time to time. Much love, Carol
Welcome back, Beth; you look very chic in the photos. Doing work that you love is helpful in the process of healing.
I agree with the posts written. I felt like you were a part of my family going through all of this sorrow for sure. My heart still hurts for you. Now on to uplifting words your beauty and smile is always uplifting and deep from the heart and soul as well. Routine and lots of family and prayers get us through.
Glad you are back. Continued prayers. LOVE the video!!!!!
So good to see your email in my inbox! You look beautiful as always. Sending you strength and comfort, not that you need the strength as you are one strong lady but a little extra never hurt anyone!
My mum died 6 weeks ago Beth. Not quite the same as a life partner, but in my eyes she was. You are awesome and inspirational to me. We all love you. Keep going Xx
God Bless you, Madelin. it is never easy to lose a loved one. it’s truly devastating knowing we will never see them again on this earth. my deepest sympathies. let’s walk through our trials one day at a time. xo
Welcome back Beth! You’re so right; green is truly a great neutral. It’s one of my favorite colors and I wear a lot of it. Your ootd is beautiful and looks great on you. I’m so glad your son has joined you on your blog; and the video is great. Much love and many prayers still coming your way.
Welcome back! Love the fashion flash! Great idea!
Great to see you back in my inbox! Such joy to see you back to work and kudos to youngest son for his support! I’m betting you’ll make a great team. Still loving your posts and praying for healing as you go forward.
Cutie, don’t overdo it- see to yourself and accept all the love that comes your way.
I know there is no comparison to your loss but I miss MrStyle. Isn’t the internet a crazy thing- someone you’ve never met and mainly just read about now and again leaves a big hole in life.
Your hair is awesome today.
Welcome back Beth! You have been in my thoughts and prayers so often.
Love the outfit!
Beth, so glad to see your post in my inbox this morning. I have missed you! And , I’ve kept you in my prayers as you move forward. You are so right…family is everything. Glad you have th support system. On a different note, I’m always afraid to try green as a neutral. But I promise I’ll work on that for fall.
Wishing you peace,
C
Beth, It is wonderful to see you back. Fabulous outfit – as always.
Love the green! I think the brown accessories will be great in the fall! So admire your courage and determination go keep the blog going. Mr. Styles is smiling down on you! Continued prayers.
Beth so glad you are back. Missed you everyday! Hopefully you and your family are healing and your son did a great job with the photography!
Love the look and loved the video. Thank you for including your make up
favorites!
So glad to see you back. So many people missed your daily post with your great sense of style. You look as beautiful as ever and always perfectly put together. Thanks for sharing that your son is helping out behind the scenes, Mr Style is still there too in yours and your family’s hearts. Enjoyed the video! Continued love and prayers to everyone.
You are awesome and inspiring! I’m so glad you are back. Thank you for being an inspiration . You are beautiful in every way.
Turned my tablet on this morning
And found your email in my in box
They are such a wonderful way of starting my day
Reading them, wondering whether I could pull that look off
Checking my wardrobe, what else do I need
Thank you for coming back to us ( your community)
Jeanette
Looking fabulous young lady. Junior is doing a great job behind the lens. Clearly learned well at the foot of the master. all the very best to you all.
Great outfit- works for summer, can transition into fall. Good to see you back, Beth.
Dear Beth, I am glad you are back but do take your time and do not push yourself. I love your new haircut and the olive green. I just received a long olive green sweater that I will find olive green pants to go with. A little something to have when the weather gets nippy. Love fall clothes. Take care sweet lady. May God bless you and give you peace.
I hope your busy schedule will help you as you gradually move into your “new normal.” I’ve thought of you all the last few days and hope you are coping all right. It takes time, and it’s definitely a process. You look great–no one who didn’t know you would know you’re grieving and aching inside, but it’s difficult, we all know… How good of your son to pick up the mantle from here.
I have green eyes, so I’ve always here and there liked kind of “sagey” greens in tops/pants/skirts, scarves, etc. I agree–this shade makes for a great and season-spanning neutral.
Take good care, and good to have you back. Oh, and the video is terrific–I like online stores (such as Everlane) that use quick videos–it helps one see how clothing moves on a person, etc. Good for you, always changing and improving. Sending virtual hugs to your gang…
thanks so much, my sweet sue! xo
Great to see you back, Beth, although I know your world is still hurling. Take your time and do what you need to do for Beth. We will still be here loving and praying for you all along the way❤️
It was a pleasant surprise to see a post from you. I have thought of you and your family often and continue to send hugs. I do like the short clip. Your son does an excellent job. Mr Style would be proud.
Happy that you are back! Thank you for returning so soon. You were missed. Good news that your youngest son is your cameraman. Take care and God bless
What a great return! i picked up a pair of green pants in the spring and at the time I never would have guessed how many ways I would wear them. Now I need to get the skirt! And, thanks for both of the makeup lists – it’s good to have a reminder of some of those brands. Continue to take care and know that in addition to having mr, style’s love smiling down on you, your followers continue to support you and will always have your back!

Great color and blog. So glad you are back. I look forward to your daily blog to pull inspiration on my daily attire to make sure I dont dress too old! Continued prayers for your healing .
Ahh, the green skirt sold out before I got one; however, I went to Talbots and purchased a similar bluejeans skirt.
Your son did an amazing job of managing the lighting and photographing your segment, The video clip and setting are awesome; like how you included the movement of the fountain as well. And it let me know that yes, I could wear a skirt with a slit in the front like the one you modeled.
Thanks for giving me a smile! I’m all dressed up and off to see Lion King with my daughter!
Love the green skirt.
Will drink my cocktail 💕 on Friday night in memory of Mr Style 💕.

Dear Beth I am so sorry for your loss, but so happy to see you back! You look marvellous! The longer skirt is much more flattering on women of a certain age even if they have good legs. You look very chic. Bravo!
Beth,
Welcome back, I missed you. I continue to pray for your healing . Know that many people love and care for you, and many prayers for you and your family are reaching up to Heaven to comfort you all and help you find your way forward without Mr. Style.

Lovely to see you continue to give us inspiration. All the best to you and your family in this difficult time.
Welcome back- and in my favourite colour too! Nice to have you back but I’m sure all your readers will agree that any time you need to take a break- we’ll understand and we’ll be here waiting for you. Great job, younger son!
Beautiful Beth, glad to hear your son in behind the lens. Hugs.
Beth- the olive green skirt wasn’t available in my size at Nordstroms. I did find a similar skirt on sale at Ann Taylor. Great suggestion. I will be able to wear a lot of tops/sweaters with it. Thanks!
Beth so great to see you! Love the new video feature!
Beth
Was so happy to see your post pop in my mailbox, have really missed you as I’m sure others have also. I’m sure Me Styles is smiling down at you and urging you on. Continued prayers for you and your family.

WELCOME BACK, looking great! I admire your spirit. You have inspired me as I just had to put my beloved dog to sleep of almost 15 years. Will go in my closet and find something to lift my spirits.
Nice to see you back, Beth. You have been in my thoughts❤️
Wow! You look fantastic. I agree family is everything. We support each other during these tough times. Mr.
style would be so proud of all of you. You are one strong beautiful lady. patval
It is so good to see you back here again! I can not imagine how difficult the last weeks and months must have been for you and your family. You are so lucky to have such a close knit family to share your grief and memories with. Unfortunately life does not stop even when we would like it to, so getting back to a routine and normalcy after a loss is good for the spirit. Your beauty, clothing, lifestyle and travel tips help us all so much and are so appreciated. It is not easy at A Certain Age to have visuals of appropriate clothing and make up to inspire us and you do it impeccably. Thank you so much for being here for us and I know I speak for all of the gals who follow you that we are so glad to be here for you too! I am so sorry for you loss and so impressed with your courage!
So delighted to see your new posts! You are an inspiration to us all. You and your family continue to be in my prayers and best thoughts. Your son is a great photographer….Mr. Style would be proud.
My favorite drug store finds: Aveeno Skin Relief Hand Cream: Intense Moisture and Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soap in the eucalyptus formula…it is gentle on the skin and makes my shower smell like a spa.
Welcome back! It is so good to see you back on the blog and we all love you more because of your transparency in sharing your feelings. What a blessing to have your handsome youngest son behind the camera to help with the blog and to be with you as a support. Also, I love the new video feature!!!!
