green is the new black. that is if you consider black a neutral. in my blog series back to basics i added green cargo pants to my wardrobe essential list. why? to begin with, cargo pants are figure flattering. plus, they have a little edge to them, and they go with just about everything including bold prints that are tricky to style. if and when you’re tired of black just reach for green. same goes for substituting cargo pants in lieu of blue jeans.
when we were in flordia last week, i spotted these wide-leg cargos and decided they would be a good transition piece from summer to fall. summer lasts a little longer in my neck of the woods, but i slowly integrate neutral color schemes to my outfits. can’t say i’m not a little jealous of those cooler temps i’ve noticed in my old stomping grounds that encourage breaking out sweaters or sweatshirts. but hey, i don’t own a snowblower anymore, so the tradeoff is a-okay with me. now, where were we? oh yes, brown wedge sandals would look adorable with these pants. or how about a gold metallic tee? a white shirt is a no-brainer when it comes to green. but a black blazer or navy sweater would look divine. can you begin to see how easy it is to mix and match a closet essential like green cargo pants? the options are endless.
since it’s date night with mr. style i chose to wear a lightweight floral stripe sweater i found on our shopping expedition in florida. try as i might i could not find this sweater online but it was purchased at bloomingdale’s so check your local store. if you haven’t yet seen a simple favor get thee to a movie theater ASAP. it stars anna kendrick and blake lively. both women give great performances. loved the fact that one of the main characters is a vlogger which was great fun to watch! anyhoo, back to today’s ootd that consists of green cargo pants, a similar floral sweater, similar black sandals, and a similar black handbag. this outfit is simple and sweet, perfect for date night and a chilly movie theater.
