a timeless classic that i reach for again and again is a jean jacket. it’s the perfect layering piece on those days when it’s not too hot or not too cold. this time of year most us aren’t quite ready to reach for a bulky coat but when there’s a chill in the air a sweater alone may not keep you warm. enter the mighty jean jacket which literally goes with everything from a flirty dress to a humble pair of blue jeans. graphic tees look fantastic peeking out from behind a jean jacket, but a turtleneck looks just as spiffy. a jean jacket lends a casual vibe to any outfit. since they’re cropped, they let your outfit take center stage while keeping you warm. a fun way to accessorize a jean jacket is with a pin or two.
today’s ootd starts with a pair of plaid pants from Talbots. they’re several years old but take a peek at a similar pair here. Talbots consistently makes the Hampshire pant year-after-year in jazzy patterns or solids. this past year J.Crew is making an effort to return to its classic roots, reintroducing favorites from by-gone years like this navy blue rolled neck sweater that first made an appearance in 1988. it’s been tweaked with a few modern updates like a slimmer fit and longer body. a striped shirt is tucked underneath with a slim fit jean jacket popped over the top. add a pair of navy blue loafers from Everlane, and this ootd has a definite prep in its step.
