today’s post is all about shopping a brand year after year. because brands stick to the same dye lots, it makes it easy to mix and match sweaters, shirts, blazers, skirts, etcetera, etcetera. so whether it be Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, Ann Taylor, Tory Burch, DVF, or Talbots you can rest assured that a purchase made five years ago will seamlessly fit with a recent purchase. i’ll dissect my ootd in a moment. but first, i wanted to give a shout out to this puffer jacket from Athleta. some of you will remember i purchased this coat for my flights down to tampa. read the post here. and i am sooooo happy i did. this coat is a dream to wear, lightweight, not bulky, and you can bunch it up and stuff it into your tote. plus, it’s reversible. it’s seen lots of action not only while traveling but on those chilly days still being dished up. at least there’s no snow where i live.
but back to today’s ootd which begins with a knit blazer (similar here) i always have on hand. knit blazers are great transitional pieces from winter to spring and summer to fall. this blazer is from Talbots and is at least five years old. it’s been featured on the blog many times. it goes with skirts, shorts, blue jeans, the works. notice how well it goes with a novelty sweater (similar here) also from Talbots. the blues match the pinks coordinate. it’s a stress-free combination because both items are from the same brand. just purchased years apart. the benefits of shopping a brand year after year are that current items fit seamlessly with older items. it’s a win/win.
