ding dong the old rule ‘no white after labor day’ is dead. and busted for good thanks to a trustworthy pair of white denim. the look is sleek, tailored and more put together than some of our favorite blue jeans. it’s a versatile closet staple that adds variety. even in winter. but some of us shy away from purchasing white denim. white can be unflattering and unforgiving. but if you pay attention to fabric and fit white jeans will be your best friend 365 days a year.
pick a fabric that isn’t too thin. some stretch denim is made of thinner-denim cotton. so be certain to check the rearview mirror. no visible panty line should be seen. and always wear nude underwear. pick a pair that’s not too tight nor too baggy. look for a comfortable snug fit through the hips, seat, and thighs. boyfriend or girlfriend jeans typically have a forgiving fit. but beware of slouchy jeans. bootcut jeans are also a great solution to balance wider hips. and don’t forget a good tailor can nip in the waist tweak the length or help with any other minor fit issues.
today’s ootd is focused on a favorite color combination of mine borrowed from the boys – camel and grey. white denim is the perfect compliment to this color scheme. it looks far dressier than a pair of blue jeans. and this color combo looks great summer or winter. take a peek here for a glimpse of how i like to wear summer neutrals. a camel blazer similar here and here is a classic wardrobe staple as is the grey cashmere crewneck. add leopard shoes and this outfit is as easy as 1.2.3.
