it’s all about a patriotic table today because one of the best parts about summer is the 4th of July. anyone else loves to celebrate our nation’s birthday? fireworks, barbeques, burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, potato salad, cherry pie and homemade ice cream to name a few of my favorite things.
there’s a heatwave to contend with this year. last year it poured rain. so the festivities will move indoors. at least the dining portion will be held inside. gotta love air conditioning. and, yes, ours is working again. thank goodness!
first step for a summer shindig? set the table. it’s so easy to create a festive atmosphere with fresh flowers. Trader Joe’s typically has a nice selection at a great price. this year sunflowers set the scene. is there a happier flower around? a few patriotic necessities were added to the tablescape. ones that can be used after dinner. there’s nothing quite like sparklers at dusk. and they’re safe. sparklers were the only fireworks my father would allow in the house and we all know father knows best.
white dishes easily combine with patterned salad plates that add visual interest. red napkins reinforce my red, white, and blue color scheme. but they’re perfect for my christmas table too! i guess you would say they pull double duty.
my photobomber is always ready to lend a helping hand.

step two for a summer party. add a flag or two to welcome your guests inside and show off your patriotic side. since we have a front porch with railings, i love to add stars and stripes bunting.
tomorrow, i’ll share what’s on the menu! happy tuesday, ladies.

It looks so festive; I love it, and look forward to the recipes! Happy 4th! 🙂
You have the most wonderful home, Beth and I am always inspired to tweak my own apartment after seeing photos of your house. May I ask about the picture with the big plant – is it a photo or painting? I really love it. Happy July 4th to you and mr. style!
Just about the same going on here in our neck of the woods. Looks very festive. You’ve got my favorite going on–the stars and stripes bunting always looks beautiful to me. I read that in lieu of fireworks, in the dry western part of the country, (out of fear of wildfires starting,) some cities are using lit-up drones for their celebrations. Do Ollie and Oscar mind the fireworks? Our dog used to be scared to death of all the sounds; poor guy. But I admit I love them…
Happy 4th!
