summer is in full swing down south. can you say muggy? the humidity and temps match today hovering around eighty-four degrees. athens has seen its fair share of rain the past two weeks leaving behind landscapes that look lush and green. more thunderstorms are in the forecast all through the water-logged weekend. so what do you do when those raindrops fall? if you’re like me and mr. style you’ll head to the movie theater.
years ago, Memorial Day weekend was synonymous with blockbuster movies. it was a veritable feast. anyone remember the release of Star Wars back in 1977 that broke every box office record? yours truly was an eighteen-year-old college student that didn’t quite catch the craze that ensued. but vivid memories remain of a nine-year-old brother with visions of jedi’s in his head all summer long. and i do mean all summer. at one point my mother was so fed up she decided to resolve Star Wars fever once and for all. her resolution? whisk him off to the theater as soon as the doors opened with instructions to call when he was ready to come home. when 7pm rolled around with no phone call, she was frantic. the plan had backfired. so she sent me down to fetch him. there he was safe and sound ensconced in a comfy chair chomping on a hot dog begging to stay until the theater closed. and stay we did.
forty odd years later the Star Wars saga continues with the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story. and while that may not be our first choice of movies we just might change our minds after we took a gander at the new releases. come on, hollywood, come on!
take heart, though, as one movie targets we women of a certain age. when does that happen? even though the reviews of Book Club are lukewarm the cast is stellar: jane fonda, diane keaton, candice bergen and mary steenburgen all grace the silver screen. this might be a movie where you ditch your main squeeze, grab your best girlfriend and plan a girls night out complete with dinner and drinks. right?!

I loved your posts from Europe! Beautiful outfits. I especially liked you in glasses! You looked sharp and chic. Thanks for inspiring this 66 year old who also has hair her natural color!
I’m going to a “gal pal” movie night tonight to see Book Club… will let you know how we like it. But even if the movie is just ok, the laughs will be plentiful!!
PS… I also rock my silver tresses!
Same here–summer is definitely in full force. We also had lots of rain this past week, so you picked a good time to head across the pond. I love your bag!
