how about those Dawgs?! for those of you who missed the game of the century last night the Georgia Bulldogs prevailed over the Oklahoma Sooners in double OT. phew! what a game. now it’s off to the national championship where we square off against Alabama. and i just realized we have tickets to Sleeping Beauty that evening. aargh! what to do?
anyhoo, with most of the country in a deep freeze, it’s time to layer up. sweater – check. cardigan – check. denim – check. scarf – check. booties – check. all of my winter favorites are in play today. a pop of red is added to brighten this ootd but there are no gray skies to chase away. only this st. john knits cardi that’s several years old. take a look at a newer version here and here. this luxury brand does come with a price tag but will last for years. sometimes, that’s a better bang for your buck than zipping off to a fast fashion brand. just remember, cheaper items need to be replaced quicker than high end.
but my red sweater from ralph lauren is in stock as are these dark rinse denim jeans from ann taylor. the scarf is j.crew circa 2014 but is one of my all-time favorites come fall and winter due to the color scheme. similar here and here. accessories are a great starting point when it comes to pulling an outfit together. if you’re stuck with ‘what to wear’ just grab a scarf study the color schemes and rummage through your closet. voila, instant outfit. it works every time.
denim | sweater | similar cardigan | similar scarf | similar booties | lip shade

happy new year, rebecca! stay warm up there. it is freezing!

I love your outfit today. The long cardigans are so popular. I knit, so I think one like this will be my first project of the year!
lucky you to be able to whip up your own creations! nothing better than a homemade sweater.

love this! grey is actually one of my neutrals so this is right up my alley! xoxo
gray is a beautiful neutral that looks great on just about every skin tone.
happy new year!

I’m in agreement with everyone else .. great look from hair on down!! ;- ) Happy new year. And, indeed, stay warm.
who can resist a cardigan on a cold winter day?!
happy new year!
Love the outfit! My cousin who lives in Dalton is a DAWG and went to the Rose Bowl with his youngest son. So fun for them! Enjoy your posts! I’m trying to be fashionably bundled up in the Alamo City. No one, and I mean no one, was in flip flops at the grocery store today!!!
how exciting for your bulldog relatives to watch the game of the century in person! now it’s off the national championship.
the whole country has been hunkered down this past week with cold temps. even california and florida. but this too shall pass. hopefully sooner rather than later – i hate cold!

It always puts a smile on my face when our northern January weather is on par with the Gulf states!
Meanwhile, you’re right about the need to replace winter cardigans and sweaters. I wear these items daily for more than half the year, so it’s no wonder most of mine need to go. Invariably they snag, pull or pill. An active life will do that. No regrets.
sweaters are a northern girls best friend for months on end. can you ever have too many? still love a crewneck and cardi to this day!
happy new year!
