now and again i love to switch out my beloved blue jeans for a different sort of casual look. since sneakers are so on-trend (when were they off trend?) and such a comfortable shoe choice, i thought i’d pair them with a plaid trouser. a simple cable knit turtleneck is the perfect option for a beautiful day with temps in the 60’s. look ma, no coat! i won’t be smug for long as i’m headed to minneapolis this weekend where the temps are hovering right around 0…
notice the subdued color scheme — blue and gray. and how the all-white shoe acts as a nice contrast. this is what gives the outfit a pop. all in all, i like this sporty chic look. it’s a nice alternative on those days when i’m on the go and want an uncomplicated outfit. sometimes, simplicity is all you need.

Great outfit! Love the sweater. Have never been a fan of tennis or athletic shoes outside their intended use. I know, I’m a shoe snob! ha! However, what you have on is clean and fresh looking, not worn down and grubby. xoxo
i completely get that sentiment. it’s all too easy for tennies to look grubby. but when paired with the right outfit they can be ever so chic!

Your Talbot trouser link , which is what interested me, opens to J Crew instead of Talbot.
thanks, for the heads up! it’s fixed.

We always ask about the windchill, because everyone knows it’s the windchill that gets you! Have fun and wear socks.
unfortunately, i know all about windchill. but hey, minneapolis has a skyway system. i may or may not wear socks…

Love the turtleneck with those pants. I like the pants, too–darn, they’re sold out in my size. Hadn’t noticed them on the website before. Stay warm in MN!
check your local talbots store. that’s where mine came from. and i hadn’t noticed them before i ran in for a return. you know how that goes. once i step foot inside their doors i rarely leave empty handed.
i’m gonna be freezing my fanny off this weekend. payback time for the glorious weather we’re having.

You look great in this outfit! I love that sneakers are on trend and I especially like them with dresses. Talbots should hire you as a model. You look great their clothes
well, it was time to trot these plaid trousers out before winter clothes disappear! even though there’s still plenty of winter months left in the calendar retail likes to shift our attention to spring as soon as it can.
