and it’s home again, home again, jiggety jig. what a wonderful time in hilton head. and how lucky am i to live within driving distance? the best part about athens, ga is the close proximity to several charming cities: charleston, savannah, hilton head, asheville, amelia island, and of course, atlanta that’s literally in our backyard. and while a quick getaway is always fun, fun, fun. it’s ever so delightful to plop down on your own bed and fluff your favorite pillow.
but i would be remiss not to share my last ootd’s from vacay. if you’ve been paying attention you noticed a pattern to all of my outfits i packed for the trip. can you guess? what’s white, navy, and horizontal? still baffled? take a look at my blog post title – it’s a dead giveaway. stripes! there’s nothing better than stripes when there’s fun in the sun. and since hilton head was twice the fun, i doubled up on my ootd’s.
first up is a cute pair of navy sailor shorts i paired with a gauze peasant blouse and red thong sandals. it’s preppy meets boho but it was the perfect outfit for breakfast then a leisurely walk on the beach. later that evening i pulled on a maxi dress (who remembers i’m determined to beef up my dress collection this summer?) for drinks and a casual dinner. originally, i had planned on wearing a pair of metallic gladiator sandals since this tulip hem really shows off your shoes. but, yes, guess who forgot to pack them? so i winged it and it these black sandals doesn’t look half bad.
there you have it ladies, another trip is now officially in the books!

I can’t believe you used the phrase “Home again, jiggity jig”! That has been a phrase in my family since we were kids!!!! I love the shorts!!! The length is perfect!! Great post!!!
hi catherine! it’s from an old nursery rhyme my nana used to read to me. love that phrase!
thanks for stopping by.

Stripes can be considered a “neutral” in our decor too. Wonderful this time of year on patios!-Laurel Bledsoe
you are so right, laurel! stripes are fabulous in home decor. so versatile
xoxo
Love the dress!
isn’t this dress adorable? love the tulip hem.

More gorgeous blue and white…and stripes, to boot! Love your tote…you find the best stuff…too bad some good, classic pieces are never to be found again. I am still bemoaning a pair of nude slingback wedges I had years ago. Haven’t seen anything like them since and they would be right in fashion now. xoxo
isn’t it funny how we miss certain items from years gone by? i’m still in mourning over a pair of paisley ballet flats by ralph lauren. although i wore the bejeebers out of them for years…. hands down still my favorite pair of shoes.

These all definitely look like fun. I bought the solid colored tulip hem skirt when they had a good sale, but admired the dresses, and this one looks marvelous on you. I know my skirt is so comfortable. I’m not quite as beautifully statuesque as you are in the height dept, so I had to order the petite to make it a length I liked. (I’m about 5’6.” I didn’t want it to be completely to the ground. I envy you your height–of all my sibs, I’m the runt of the litter in the height dept.)
i just had to laugh at your ‘runt of the litter’ reference! but 5’6″ is nothing to sneeze at. i bet you look adorbs in the skirt. isn’t that tulip hem fun? it’s a great way to show off your sandals.

Wonderful resort looks. Thanks for taking us along, Beth, on your fabulous vacation at Hilton Head! I’ve never been there, but the beach scenery really reminds me of Montauk, Long Island, where I will be heading in July.
i’ve never been to montauk, but new york has lovely scenery so i imagine it is quite beautiful. how nice to head out of the city when the temps heat up.
