sometimes a great outfit begins with a color scheme. or a favorite blazer. or as in today’s ootd a pair of shoes. for those of you who asked for alternatives to high heels today’s post is for you. what’s better than a block heel (on trend and oh so comfortable) with a 1.25″ heel height? and they come with a matching handbag. even gloves for those of you still suffering in the frozen tundra. these accessories are timeless elegance at its best.
these shoes would look terrific paired with a power suit if you’re headed to the office. or a lady-like dress if a charity luncheon is on your agenda. i’m keeping it simple today with a white and gray ensemble and a pop of color from a silk scarf. white denim is worn year round these days. they’re the perfect contrast with this gray blazer and shoes. who says getting ready in the morning is complicated? sometimes, simplicity is all that’s needed to pull the perfect outfit together.

I enjoy your posts very much and would like to make a suggestion. Is it possible to give a brief introduction to your topic and then intersperse your comments between your photos? Often, you’ll describe a detail and then it is necessary to flip through the photos to find the item. What I’m suggesting is similar to when Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman) demonstrates a recipe on her blog. First, she describes the general recipe or what inspired her to create it. Then, photos follow with each photo having a brief description below it. I think this would work great for your blog, also. Hope you are not offended by my suggestion, I really enjoy your blog very much and just feel this would create a better flow for the reader.
hi darlene,
what an excellent suggestion! thanks so much for your feedback. and i’m late the the ree drummond party but i think she’s terrific.

That scarf is stunning on you! The colors make you glow! I don’t think that the similar scarves are at all comparable though! For one thing, the cost of an Hermes scarf is about $395, which is not inexpensive but the quality is unmatched! These scarves are more money and from my past experience, not of similar quality!
my biggest challenge is matching older items with similar ones that are comparable in quality and available. of course, hermes is the indisputable leader when it comes to silk scarves. but gucci, and givenchy, even alexander mcqueen make a pretty darn good product. and i’ve always been happy to own one. but of course, there are differing opinions. yours being one. vive le difference.

Love the subdued greys with the pop of color in the scarf. That’s a knockout. Simple always makes me feel the most comfortable. Great look.
simplicity always works, sue! who needs to reinvent the wheel?

A beatiful touch of yellow is perfect with grey accessorizes!
this scarf will always be one of my favorites due to the vibrant color scheme. it always gives any outfit that extra pop it needs.
