when the weather delivers raindrops, it’s time to reach for a yellow slicker. it’s guaranteed to brighten any dreary day. for the longest time, i’ve wanted a yellow raincoat. maybe it’s memories of my kiddos sloshing through puddles dressed in yellow rain boots and matching yellow raincoats. or images of paddington bear looking super cool in his yellow toggle coat. but as far as foul-weather gear goes, a yellow slicker is classic and iconic in its own right. guess what? this spring i finally pulled the trigger. take a peek.
anyone remember the post where i shared accessories are a great starting point in which to pull an outfit together? the post was titled shades of grey if you’re ever in a style rut pick a scarf or other colorful accessory like this fun tote by trina turk similar here. now study the color scheme, rummage through your closet choosing items that mimic said color combo. don’t be afraid to pattern mix. it’s a fun way to stay on-trend.
here’s how inspiration struck. pink gingham pants from boden, navy cashmere sweater (it was chilly today), yellow anorak, and white sneakers similar here. notice how the colors of the tote influenced my ootd? so next time you’re wondering ‘what to wear’ let your accessories do the talking.
