let’s ease into spring with a chambray shirt and white denim. both are wardrobe staples that work any time of year. but when it’s time to transition between seasons these two items work overtime. why? it’s elementary: the color palette.
a chambray shirt is a must-have in your closet. it’s a versatile item with many price points from Old Navy to J.Crew to Ralph Lauren. and there are so many renditions of this wardrobe favorite like a ruffleneck or a tie-neck, long sleeve, or short. alternate ways to wear this simple shirt? pair it with jeans for a Canadian tuxedo. wear it with colored jeans or chinos. my favorite color besides white? green or black. another favorite combo this time of year is a chambray shirt popped over a tee and blue jeans or open over a dress. today, i’m sharing two ways to wear a chambray shirt and white denim by simply exchanging shoes and handbags.
first up is an outfit with a laid-back ‘tude perfect for the weekend or running errands. it starts with a chambray button-down (size 8) and white denim (size 29) both from J.Crew. a grandpa cardigan from Banana Republic in a neutral color adds warmth and texture. leather and suede sneakers from Madewell pull the color scheme and outfit together. but a brown leather tote (similar here) is the perfect handbag for a day of shopping.

the second outfit again starts with a chambray shirt and white denim. the camel cardigan stays in place but the sneakers were exchanged for slip-on mules from Dolce Vita and the brown leather tote was replaced with my favorite handbag from Coach. plus, i added a cute rope belt from Ralph Lauren. accessories are always the icing on the cake. but accessories like shoes and handbags truly add versatility to your wardrobe. they can dress an outfit up or they can keep it casual. how easy is that?

Beth: I love today’s outfit! I want to thank you for the Scoop blue leather jacket recommendation! It’s amazingly made quite well. I am enjoying wearing it!
that faux leather jacket is a keeper. glad you liked it!
I would love to be able to save a picture but I can only save a link. I have files of my favorite outfits from bloggers so I can copy the look later. Yours is the only one that only allows a link. Why is that?
not certain how you are saving the photo. when i go to mobile if i click on the photo it lets me save it to my camera. on my computer, if i click the photo it also lets me save it or you can pin it to Pinterest.
Such a great casual outfit. I particularly like the play of colors and textures. This gives me some ideas for putting together a similar outfit from my closet.
so happy you found some inspiration!
Love chambray and white, especially with red or navy accents. Love the “grandpa” cardigan. I have 3 Walmart Time & Tru “Boyfriend” cardigans that look quite similar and are very inexpensive. (FYI They run quite large.) P.S. The darling blue faux leather moto jacket from WM is ADORABLE and such a dreamy shade of blue. I’m thrilled! Wish it also came in pink.
i am all in on the ‘grandpa cardigan’s’ lots of fun to wear! isn’t the faux leather jacket adorable?
Love your posts but gotta say this is about as Grandma as it gets over 60
… no button up jeans. Seriously, you are small this outfit makes you look so bulky.
i would adore being a grandma as i’m certain all grandmothers everywhere would attest to. btw, happy international women’s day! women supporting women is a concept i support.
Love your spirit so much, Beth! Women supporting women is a great concept. Wonderful reply to your last commenter. You inspire me with your good taste and your zest for life.
dance like no one’s watching! that’s what life is all about. it’s short, it’s precious, we need to make it count.
