what a fun post i have for you today! y’all know how much i love classic style. it’s timeless, chic, and effortless. at least, we make it look effortless. any outfit takes some thought to put together. but if you have the wardrobe basics on hand, your life just became easier. at least when it’s time to throw on your clothes. today, it’s all about classic wardrobe staples, a famous classic style icon, and a red puffer that’s all the rage this winter. yes, today’s post features my classic style series, Princess Diana.
on any given day, i head to Nordstrom, my favorite retailer, for so many reasons. one of which is they carry so many different brands from luxury labels to in-house favorites. today, my ootd harkens from five different brands – Liverpool Los Angeles, Halogen, Avec Les Filles, Tory Burch, and Marc Fisher. how’s that for one-stop shopping? and all from the comfort of my living room chair.
two years ago, i started my classic style series on Instagram to highlight just how versatile and timeless classic style truly is. it’s a fun series to work on. typically, i have the wardrobe staples on hand to recreate outfits from the women who rock classic style: Victoria Beckham, Reese Witherspoon, Katie Holmes, Ines de la Fressange, Amal Clooney, and the Duchess of Cambridge, to name but a few. but every once in a while, i add classic staples to my wardrobe. today’s outfit was no exception. the black cashmere turtleneck was on hand, and i did have a pair of black denim folded neatly on my shelf. but in early December, i wore a pair of wax-coated jeans from Liverpool Los Angeles and fell in love with the fit. Nordstrom carried black wax-coated jeans, so in my cart, they went. and this reversible red puffer jacket is so affordable (and on sale) that i couldn’t resist. red is such a vibrant color to wear on a dark and dreary day. it pairs beautifully with black and so on-trend this season. Chelsea boots are a true classic. love a suede version. sunglasses (similar here) and baseball cap (similar here) add a hint of fun. hey, if it was good enough for Princess Diana to wear, who am i to argue?

love the tips on these booties that add a western vibe.
who didn’t adore Princess Diana? from her years as a Sloan Ranger to iconic fashionista, there are so many drool-worthy outfits to emulate. personally, i loved how Diana rocked classic casual style. in the 1980s, it was quite a-typical for a Royal to don blue jeans and a simple white shirt. but Diana did just that and more. the peoples’ Princess was a trendsetter through and through. think you can’t wear three colors together? or a puffer jacket is stodgy? what about a baseball cap? it can be done. and it can look chic. so let’s take a lesson on how to wear classic style, Princess Diana.
a few of my favorite things about Nordstrom.
the puffer jacket reverses from red to black with pockets on both sides. and there’s a detachable hood that’s perfect for inclement weather.

Enjoyed your post. Thank you. Just goes to show that age is just a number. I’m 81 & love your fashion sense. Would you mind telling us your age & size please. Thanks!
I love it!! Do it again. đ
LOVE this post!
I agree with looking to style icons you admire and adapting their look to yourself. I wonder about your thoughts regarding my personal favorite, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. She wasnât in the public eye for very long and itâs been over 20 years since her death, but her outfits look just as fresh today as they did back in the 90s. For me, she truly epitomized the concept of âeffortless chicâ: sleek lines, minimal accessories.
I loved how you emulated the outfits of the “rich and famous” with things from your own closet. That was fun! I hope you’ll do it again!
