with thanksgiving in the rearview mirror and operation christmas decorations somewhat under control it’s time to think about date night with mr. style. when your to-do list gets long it’s soooo easy to let the little things in life take a back burner. but when life speeds up i tend to slow down. just because another item needs to be ticked off your checklist doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice having fun! life is too short for that. so i swiped on some lipstick and pulled my heels from the closet. come on, mr. style let’s grab a bite to eat far from the maddening crowd (have you seen the returns line at Target?!).
date night never needs to be fancy schmancy but i do like to add a little drama to my ootn. since the temps are hovering in the forties i reached for a turtleneck cashmere dress last seen here. it keeps me warm and stylish which is a win/win. when i purchased this dress from Everlane i knew it would easily double as a tunic. don’t you love how it looks with faux leather leggings similar here? suede pumps similar here elevate this outfit to date night stature. if you wanted a daytime look simply exchange the pumps for ankle boots. many northern gals ask what type of socks i would wear if the weather were colder? in that case i would wear nude tights or anklet or knee-high socks.
black and brown have always been a favorite color combination of mine come winter. it’s simple and chic and borrows heavily ‘from the boys.’ this heritage plaid wool coat by Ralph Lauren is the perfect compliment to a monochromatic black outfit. this particular coat was purchased this summer during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale but there are two similar styles available here and here. one coat has the exact plaid and one coat has the exact style. go figure!

Oh, I remember that coat–glad you kept that out of your stash of goodies you showed us! It looks terrific. Seeing you on what I assume is a college campus makes me nostalgic–I spent 14 years of my life touring tons of them around the nation, and always love walking through beautiful quads. Have fun on date night!
I got a kick out of “operation Christmas decorations.” I have a feeling mine will be somewhat minimal this year as I won’t be doing much clean up after my new knee. I actually did do a lot of holiday shopping and have already sent lots of things off to folks, as I’ll be out of commission soon. I’ll look forward to next year when hopefully I can dive right into it all as usual.
i can never resist ralph lauren! the king of classics never fails to tempt me. xo
Thank goodness for the E book. have just had 2 friends confirming that they are arriving for Christmas Day. Travelling quite a long way… What to cook. E book only trouble is that it is almost 40 degrees, fires nearby and flooding in Sydney. A land of drought and flooding rain.
i am so happy to hear you enjoyed the e-magazine! this is our first attempt but plan on adding more in 2019. sounds like Australia faces many of the same woes as California! take care. xo
