and it’s home again, home again, jiggity jig. although there were a string of date nights with mr. style during our long weekend in florida i’m always up for the next evening out. this year one of our christmas presents from our kiddos was a gift certificate to Bones an atlanta steakhouse with an old school vibe. zagat recognized Bones as having the highest rating for food and service of any steakhouse in America. visions of my youth in omaha, nebraska are dancing in my head. way back in the day omaha was known for its stockyards located in close proximity to downtown. steakhouses lined the infamous 72nd strip, and if you were a visiting businessman or woman in the sixties or seventies, you were bound to pay a visit to one of them. the lights were dim, tables trimmed with white tablecloths, the waiters garbed in black, and the first course always included a relish tray with green onions. and the steaks? cooked to perfection every time.
guess who is headed to atlanta this weekend for a gastronomical experience? in fact, my mouth is already watering for a new york strip. but what to wear on date night? especially when an old world steakhouse is on the agenda. a special occasion deserves a special outfit. right?! but nothing too fancy as this restaurant has a reputation for a clubby atmosphere. and no brand represents a clubhouse vibe better than Ralph Lauren. guess it’s time to shop my closet and see if i can figure this one out.
let’s start with a neutral single-breasted glen plaid blazer with a longer length (similar here and here). with neutrals in mind, i decided a monochromatic look would be perfect. enter a winter white blouse (similar here and here) with long cuffs that peek out from the blazer and straight fit winter white pants (similar here and here). nude pumps would be a safe bet with this ootn, but i chose suede pumps (similar here and here) in a contrasting color to add texture. gold hoop earrings and a gold necklace are feminine touches to this masculine outfit. last but not least is an iconic Gucci handbag (similar here) with a bamboo handle that adds a touch of old school charm.

it’s good to be home but i would be remiss if i didn’t mention i miss those blue skies and warm temps that florida happily delivered. happy tuesday, gang!
