Happy Thursday, Ladies! With Labor Day come and gone, it's the unofficial end of summer, and we're on to Pumpkin Spice Everything Season. Halloween candy is already on the shelves at the grocery store and our way home from Tybee Island on Monday was dotted with red and golden leaves on some over-achieving trees that got the Fall Memo. It’s the time of year when blue jeans start making their way back, one by one, to the front of my closet. So today, I am dressing up my blue jeans with an embellished top.
Today, Kelly shares How to Dress up Your Jeans With an Embellished Top

Embellished Tops are still at the fashion forefront for 2024. Sequins are the main way you’ll find embellishments this season, but I have seen a few interesting options, like this Sheer Embellished Tee in Plaid from J.Crew. Rather than sequins, this top is studded with tiny rhinestones.
This embellished top incorporates a few big trends for 2024: embellishments, sheer fabric, and a boxy loose-fitting cut. And since I also love patterns, this top was screaming my name!

We talk a lot about how to wear denim on Style at a Certain Age, and how to dress up your denim is always a popular topic. An embellished top is by far the easiest way to dress up your jeans with a little sparkle and glam – the best news is, this trick works for day or night!
In the last few years, I have favored straight-leg and wide-leg jeans. I like the comfortable straight legs and the overall classic jean style of both narrow straight legs, and wider straight leg styles. You can’t get more classic than Levi’s. These Rib Cage High Waist Ankle Straight Jeans are an updated version of the classic 501 style. They are petite-sized, but I did get them hemmed to be cropped, rather than hitting right at my ankle. One of my scores from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I have been excited for the weather to cool down enough to wear them!

One pattern-mixing trend I have had my eye on is the combination of a geometric pattern, like plaid, mixed with a neutral snake print. J.Crew has been doing this for the last couple of seasons, and it usually involves incorporating the snake print via shoes or a handbag.
My snake print block heels have a khaki tint – they are from spring. But there are many other styles at J.Crew that would work perfectly well. It’s a fun and unexpected pairing that feels modern and fresh.

Always fun to see the petite sizes as that’s me. It sometimes helps to tell readers what size you are wearing. We are all different but I find it helpful.
Hi Judy, I totally agree! I forget sometimes though…for easy reference, I am almost always wearing a 0 or xs. Thank you for stopping by! xo Kelly
So adorable on you.
Thank you, Rory! xo Kelly
