hey gang! i’ve been down and out with a leg injury the past few days so i thought i’d share a post from 2017 that’s as relevant today as it was last year – 10 fall wardrobe essentials. enjoy the post while i pack for florida and rest my leg.
even if the weather might be hot and hotter in your neck of the woods no doubt you’ve noticed the days are shortening. which means only one thing: the seasons are about to change. yikes! but i dare you to say fall isn’t your favorite time of year fashion-wise. layers are a necessity, suede and leather make an appearance, and my favorite: sweaters! so what’s on my classic must-have list for fall? here are ten items that help my style game stay strong. let’s take a look:
turtleneck – perfect for a chilly fall day. they look great tucked underneath a blazer or vest. or they can fly solo. sometimes, i size up for a slouchy look that’s perfect with leather leggings. merino wool and cashmere are my top choices for a sleek fit.

faux leather legging – want an alternative to denim? try a faux or leather legging. chic and comfortable they add a little edge to your wardrobe.

blazer – if you have been following the blog for any length of time you know how much i love blazers! this is a classic wardrobe essential that can take the place of jackets on a warm fall day. and they add instant polish to any outfit. and i always have one tweed jacket at my beck and call.
scarf – a fabulous accessory that keeps us stylish and warm to boot. pick a pattern any pattern. there are so many to choose. start with your favorite color and keep adding to your collection little by little.
puffer vest – cousin to the mighty puffer jacket a vest offers comfort and warmth on those in-between days when it’s chilly but not cold.

poncho – another way to layer when the temps dip down. they’re a perfect travel companion as they can scrunch and bunch and take a beating. toss one over a skirt for a casual chic nine-to-five look.
utility pants – if you want to switch your look from denim look no further than a utility cargo pant. it’s neutral and goes with everything. who doesn’t like that?!

utility jacket – once again we have the military to thank for a classic wardrobe staple. it’s the perfect layering piece for a casual weekend vibe.

tote – a black or brown tote is an absolute must-have in my book. love to bring one along on shopping excursions as you can fit so many packages inside.
chelsea boot – last but not least is a cute ankle boot that soared to popularity during the swinging sixties. who remembers the beatles? as if we could ever forget the fab four. white boots are going strong this year. red too. but black, brown or leopard are my top choices for chelsea boots.

are you ready for fall, ladies? i’m grasping on to every last minute of summer. but, hey, autumn is an easy season to like. there are football games (go dawgs!), apple cider, apple pie, crisp fall days and autumn leaves.

Beth, Can you tell me the brand of your light gray sweater coat? This is one of my favorite pieces in your wonderful wardrobe. It looks great with the leather leggings, striped top and dotted bandana!
Love all the idea’s for the Fall Season! We are leaving in a few weeks for our Viking Cruise in Paris, I’m so thankful for your blog, I appreciate your style and how you change up outfits with the seasons!
Thank you, Debbie
Great looks, one and all.
I can commiserate with hurting legs. I finally got the ok from my rheumatologist to go forward with TKR (total knee replacement) surgeries for both knees–it’s going to be a whole lot of fun over this next year. Rest up and listen to your body! Enjoy the Fl trip!
It’s fall, alright. We have nightly frost warnings, so there’s no denying it. The good news is, it’s time for suede!
Have fun extending the summer in sunny Florida.
Don’t you love looking at a blast from the past and realizing you still look current and on target….Thanks to the classics! Hope your leg heals quickly.
